For those of us who either live with a diagnosis of ME, have a friend or relative with the illness or are conducting research on this disease--

As you may remember, years ago AIDS was a misunderstood illness. Activist artists brought attention to the disease with plays like "The Normal Heart" and "Angels in America."

Right now we have a unique opportunity to do this for ME!
Lyric Opera of Chicago is sponsoring a competition called "Chicago Voices " to produce a performance this fall and our ME group has reached the semi-finalist stage.

We are calling ourselves "Bathrobe Heroines" and we need votes from the ME community!
Our goal is to help familiarize the public about the severity of this illness, the medical profession's reaction (or lack thereof!), and generally try to increase awareness and understanding of ME.

Community Created Performances
Chicago Voices put out a call in January to find Chicago-based groups that had compelling stories to share about their community. After careful review of the applications, by a panel from the Chicago Public Library, eight groups were selected for the semifinalist round!

The three groups who receive the highest number of votes will have the chance to develop their story into an original music theater work with the support of Lyric staff and artists.

ETA: I'm giving up for today. I entered my e-mail. I didn't see any place to enter my zip code. When clicked on 'vote' beside the Bathrobe Heroines it just reloaded the same page with all the competetors. There was no indication that they had noted my vote.

Thanks for trying @Little Bluestem. I had problems also. It didn't work in Mozilla Firefox. Thankfully I tried Google Chrome and it worked. (My computer and operating systems - if that's the right word - are old so not sure about all this.)

I had problems also. It didn't work in Mozilla Firefox. Thankfully I tried Google Chrome and it worked.

Oh, swear! I have Mozilla Firefox. I don't have Google Chrome. There is a copy of the Window browser on my machine. I have never used it and haven't updated it since I bought this computer several years ago, so I wouldn't use it now.

My Google Chrome and computer are old. I hadn't used Google Chrome at all until a few weeks ago when I couldn't get into something on Firefox. I went to Google Chrome to see if it would let me in and it did. Just in case you want to try your Window browser, it might work for some things even if it's old.

I'm not concerned about it not working. I'm concerned about it rolling out the welcome mat to viruses and malware.

When I tried to vote today, the URL changed to "https://chicagovoices.lyricopera.org/Vote#modal-vote4" (the 1 has been replace with a 4). Nothing else seemed to happen. Are you sure you voted for Bathroom Heroines and not Kuumba Lynx? The former is number 4 in the list, the latter number 1.

OK, I clicked 'open in new tab' on the vote button and I got a page with the same header, but the competitors listed in a different order. Bathroom Heroines are number 2 on this page. Do I need to re-enter my e-mail every day?

Hi. Thank you for saying that. I wasn't thinking about viruses and malware. I need to remember that with these things. I hope using my Google Chrome is fine.

I didn't have to watch the videos. Will at some point. I just clicked on the URL to see what comes up. I see we are #1 still or again!

I would click on the site and see what happens. I would test it for you now so I could tell you exactly what happens yet afraid it may cause problems since I already voted this 24 hours. If I remember right, when you click on it, it will then ask for your email and zip code, and then you press vote. I hope this works for you.
