Considering trying to make an appointment here for my son. Just wondering if anyone has any insight or experience here. Can't find much on here from anyone who might have went there.

Feel free to PM if that would be better. Thanks in advance.... Billt

Last I heard there was a waiting list for the waiting list. A few members have been there though so maybe they can say more.

My daughter is a Bateman patient. My understanding is that they may have a new clinician working to shoulder the patient load. They are typically more willing to bring in patients that have some infrastructure in terms of primary care or specialist support in their hometown. The clinic can't provide primary care services. They will also take patients based on what they need in research, what type of diagnostics have already been completed and patients that fit a certain profile--they prioritize patients they believe they can help. I don't know what that profile is--part of them making that determination is in the intake process. The waiting list isn't a waiting list done by "first come, first served." My daughter was seen more in the beginning of her diagnostic process. Now she averages a couple of visits a year, maybe a Skype visit and some email conversations. It is worth starting the process. Contact them, fill in their online info and see where it takes you. You may be seen faster than you think.

And to be absolutely honest, I love Dr Bateman. She has been our personal angel throughout this hell we all know as ME/CFS. If you can get into her clinic, know that you will be treated with respect and kindness. They will do the best they can with whatever your son's circumstances. Dr B is a passionate and skilled clinician/diagnostician. The people who work with her are equally committed to their work.

That being said, I would advise anyone seeking ME/CFS treatment to get on the wait list of any specialist's clinic that is willing to add you. Whoever can see you first is where you start. We had an unusual referral to Bateman Horne because my daughter's primary care nurse practitioner had an adult daughter who was treated by BHC. Living in Europe when my daughter got sick (her initial diagnosis was at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead UK), we were quite clueless about who Dr B was in the greater ME/CFS community.

Once we repatriated, Dr B picked up after the initial diagnosis was made. We brought her several years of labs--including some very detailed immunological studies--as well as reports from multiple endocrinologists, immunologists and pediatricians. I think having a large paper trail made it easier for her to accept my daughter as a patient because so many issues had already been ruled out.

Good luck!

PNWMom . Thank you so much for the reply .. We do have a pretty long doctor and paper trail so maybr that will help. We have already been to a specialist and have tried many things so hoping a new doctor would have a different prospective . I am going to call and a least start the process and see how it goes from there..

I find it so discouraging that the doctors aren't working more closely. In the end, we run here and there exhaust life savings and our children still suffer. But these are positive reports about Dr Bateman.

With such a dreadful illness it's paramount that doctors work together.

Well ,, got the official email from Bateman today. They very politely told me they won't take us. Very nice but I guess we don't fit the profile they are looking for.
Can't believe it is this hard to find a doctor !!!!! frustrating but won't quit ...

Billt, I didn't 'like' your post because they said No! It's just appreciated when someone comes back to a thread like this to post an update.

Good luck with the search. There's someone out there for you guys ...

Only said that they take 10-20 % of applicants. They won't tell you exactly what they want or don't what. I'm sure with so many people looking, they can afford to be picky ! Guess I can't blame them. They did let me know that they would keep out info though..
