I came across it when reading The Brain's Way of Healing by Norman Doidge - he talked about the research at the University of Wisconsin and the Pons device. Indeed. So much so I bought some stock: http://www.heliusmedical.com/

I'm curiously hopeful it will benefit m.e. patients. AFAIK, the PoNS will be available first in Canada, in summer 2016. Hopefully for direct consumer purchase.

Do not know anything new about the Canadian market, but it sounds like they hope its available in the US next Feb-ish:

"A year from now, I would hope that we will have completed our registrational clinical trials and the FDA will have cleared the device, so that our PoNS device will be commercially available."
