Have You Seen The Avril Lavigne Lyme Interview?

I hope so too but is there ever that solid of a prognosis given to lyme patients, even if it's caught early?

Also, it sounds like she was hinting at the fact that she was diagnosed with lyme by a LLMD based on symptoms only. Hopefully she doesn't actually have ME instead.

Funnily enough I've had e-mails this morning from 2 friends I never see/hear from any more, both citing the video and that Avril is now cured!!!
Are they really thinking 'what the hell is she(me) doing still being sick after all this time'.........or am I being over sensitive:(

I wish Avril all the best, she seems to have got in time to a doctor who can help, and every celebrity who comes out with details of illnesses they suffer with helps the many who don't have such a high profile.

From the video I didn't get that she was cured, I understood that she was half way through her antibiotics treatment and right now feeling a little bit better. I find it strange that her doctors promised her a full recovery. I've never heard that before. And I think we'll have to see how she's doing in a year's time. (I mean, I do hope she recovers, just as I hope we all recover, but I feel a bit sceptical about this particular story.)

@maryb I'd be upset too if I got emails like that from friends. It all looks so simple and easy from an outsider's perspective. When I get messages like that I try to see it as their inappropriate way of saying: 'I hope you feel better soon'.

Yeh, this was a feel good piece, despite all the tears. Afterall, she fought through adversity and bended but did not break, and the forecast is sunny.

I watched and looked and listened for clues, like the CFS reference, and the many inconclusive tests, and the suggestions of depression, and the long parade of specialists that ended in a Lyme specialist. I am wondering if among all those negative and inconclusive tests was a negative 2T, but I don't think she ever said that. She did say something about being diagnosed based on symptoms, I think (that was 24 hours ago, or three weeks or four years, I cannot tell which - either way, a long time ago). The whole time I had this image in my head of the CDC or NIH chomping at the bit, aching to respond.

Part of me wishes someone mainstream had been interviewed, if only so the GMA audience could have been exposed to that PR machine.

Part of me would have liked to have seen that give and take.

Maybe also an interview with her LLMD, or even a spokesperson for ILADS to deal with any potential dissent from the mainstream crowd.

In the end, we can only speculate as to the specifics - which is not that difficult to do since so many of us have endured a similar process.

I will keep my eyes open over the next couple of days to see if any of the usual IDSA gang pop up to offer their two cents. Some of them frequently seem compelled to comment.

For Avril Lavigne's sake, though, I hope that doesn't happen.

Maybe she'll benefit long term if she was able to rest deeply and not work since it began -- if she's not 100%, her upcoming performance next month might not be advisable.
