You guys know ANY Supplements/Treatments for Stress?

Hey guys,

I wanted to ask you guys for advice because last time I asked this forum I got lots of support. The thing today is stress. My body and mind seems to break down whenever there is something big I'm preparing for. Whether it is asking a girl to homecoming or preparing to tryout for the basketball team, my body and mind just can't seem to handle the stress. A big part of this is I think is that the stress and the little obsession over it causes me to lose quality sleep. Plus my body can't seem to handle it. Loss of sleep, stress, and me pushing myself seems to break me down. Do you guys think it's my adrenal health? What causes me to break down so easily? Cortisol? I have had a stress burnout. My sleep is fine when I'm not stressed. So how can I make my body better equipped to handle high stress? As always, ANY answer is greatly appreciated because your answer might be the one that helps change my life. I also want to say I deeply respect the people's willingness to help other people on here.

What do you mean by "breaking you down"? You might get more help if you can be more specific about your symptoms.

Is this mostly an anxiety issue? Would an anti-anxiety medication help?

Stress. Anxiety. No Sleep. All within my own realm of experience, as well as Many others in here, too.
Break it into daytime treatment / and nighttime treatment.
1) DAY: use supplements. They will be weaker than the nighttime ones, though.
a. Calcium/magnesium combination, combined with L-Theanine
b. GABA combined with 5-HTP
c. Holy Basil Extract
d.L-Tryptophan: this one is pretty strong. It could be a night helper too.
start with only one of the combinations; see how it goes. If more relief is needed, add the other supps. They combine ok for me...no interactions happened with me. Keep (c & d) to use separately if possible.

2)NIGHT: Melatonin@3mg; best if sublingual or spray.
a.Passion Flower extract, combined with sour cherry, +L-Theanine
b.Saffron bulb extract combined w/Folate 200mcg
c.medicinal cannabis (indica only) tincture. This of course is optional; I hear more good things all the time about
this, but it may lose efficacy with use over time.
d.Pharma meds: like ambien, etc. Do Not do the ambien long-term. Serious about this.
e.anti depressant meds with a side effect of sleep, such as Remeron. Start at 1/2 the lowest dose/break a 15mg
in half. Test that. Go up or down as needed. Caution:long-term effect is weight gain, but it really is a decent
sleep aid. Too strong causes next-day hangover.
f. Avoid Benzodiazepines totally. nasty addictions.

3) OTHER: by Neuro Genetic Solutions, their daily anti-stress called JNKcapsules. great ingrediants. Also their NeuroEndure anti-stress. Both have helped me. Also Omega 3's of high quality.

4) I am not a doctor. These are things that I have been personally helped by, but each person is unique.
Consult an ME specialist doctor, if you can find one.

Best Wishes.

add to previous post: The Remeron is super effective at knocking out next-day anxiety. Just keep the dosage at a level that lets you function normally next day.

IMHO supplements aren't the first thing you should be looking at. If you are breaking down from the regular stresses of high school I think the problem is more serious and you should go to a therapist, they can be very helpful in these situations.

/ Yes, I do agree about your response: I supplied info for a long-time sufferer... should have considered the age factor more. However, more than a therapist(in addition to) may be needed for this. I think Medical Doctor , early intervention if possible, is invaluable in ME cfs issues. And yes of course, the best results obtained with the most logical methods is preferable in this case. I thought I heard early symptoms stated. I could be wrong . I hope so actually.

Based on this young man's posts, I'm not sure we're dealing with ME/CFS here. I've heard no mention of an ME/CFS diagnosis or other ME/CFS symptoms. I believe the main issues are gut problems, OCD and "stress".

I know this whole forum is for chronic fatigue syndromes but I really respect the people here on the forums and just how much knowledge they have. I thought I knew stuff about human science until I came here. I was wondering if you guys have information about treatment of OCD. I know my root cause of OCD is probably poor gut function or methylation (nuerotransmitter test came back with nearly all neurotransmitters being low plus low cortisol in the morning and low dhea) but I can't start treatment until I treat my OCD first.

I have gut issues myself, have tendencies to OCD, and can't handle stress at all. I have ME.
Thought I recognized someone else with those problems, like mine.

The difference is , he's still a young adult; but there are many cases of youthful onset.
Younger patients also need information, but we should be extra cautious, I agree.

Another factor: has he talked this through with the parents? Step 1.
Therapist and MD's-- after getting a plan together, that includes parental help.

If it's occasional performance stress or anxiety that you experience (i.e. high levels of stress hormones and adrenaline, before a major event) then beta blockers can be very helpful, for some people, to reduce the physical symptoms and some of the cognitive symptoms. You should ask your doctor about them.

There are some herbal supplements that can help stress and anxiety, such as skullcap, passiflora, lemon balm, and valerian. People respond to them all differently so you'd have to experiment to see what works for you. Skullcap is one of my favourites and is long lasting for general use. Passiflora is another of my favourites but is short lasting so it's very good for night time use i.e. getting to sleep but waking up with a clear head. Don't mix them - if you try them then take just one type at a time. Also, don't mix them with any medications you take without consulting your doctor.

Hi @JeremyLin

Welcome to the PR forums. You are right about the many members here who are willing to share what knowledge they have with those looking for answers.

I don't know anything about anxiety or adrenal fatigue solutions but there are many threads here on the subject.

You could try going to the forums tab and then scroll down to the bottom. Under Resources, projects and archives is the google site search. If you enter say adrenal fatigue or anxiety you will come up with a good list of threads already discussing the topic. If you read through some of that you might find something useful, including links to other sites devoted to the topic.

I appreciate your respectful tone in asking for help here. A lot of us are very sick and have been for a very long time. The medical community has mostly (but not entirely) abandoned us.

I hope you find some answers. It's certainly is better to attend to these issues before they become larger health problems.
Along the way you might also learn a little about the real ME/CFS and it's sufferers from reading these threads rather than the media misinformation that is everywhere.

Good luck.
