Really painful, slightly swollen ankles

Does anybody else have really painful slightly swollen ankles? I don't notice them unless someone touches them. Whenever my doctor touches them I almost jump off the table. Then he precedes to check my pulse and blood pressure a bunch of times. Does anybody else have this problem? And, do you have any idea what swollen ankles have to do with pulse and blood pressure? He hasn't really given me a straight answer. Perhaps he is worried about a possible blood clot?

Do you have OI with blood pooling? That is a common cause of swollen ankles. And have you tried compression stockings or knee socks?

Best wishes,

Sorry Sushi, I can't remember what OI is. I usually have low blood pressure with a high pulse rate. Is that what you mean? I do not know about the blood pooling. My doctor has not mentioned that, however.

Hi,
OI is orthostatic Intolerance--difficulty standing for any length of time.

Pooling is blood not returning to the head and heart and partly staying in the lower legs, ankles, or abdomen. It is common for those of us with some form of autonomic dysfunction. Compression stockings or socks "squeeze" the blood back up.
