I still havent found a specialist for leaky gut. So please tell me what helped you so I can try it. Glutamine? Glucosamine? Arginin? Butyric Acid? Slippery Elm? Lecithin?

Hi bedman,

What country are you in? That could help people to suggest resources.

Bedman, probably all the supplements in the world will not help you unless you cut out the foods that are inflaming your gut and perpetuating the problem. The most likely culprits are wheat (and other gluten/lectin-containing grains), legumes, dairy products, and nightshade vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers). These days, there is a lot of information out there about leaky gut, thanks in large part to the popularity of the "Paleo diet", which eliminates these foods that we are theoretically not designed to ingest.

Go to www.mercola.com and search Dr. Natasha Campbell Mcbride. She knows how to fix the gut and has a diet. She uses it for autism as well, she has a clinic for that. I have started fermented vegetables, more probiodic in a spoonfull than a handfull of supplements. I bought her book, very good for people with gut problems. It is a long audio but you can learn a lot. Turn it on relax and listen. I knew I needed the book to refer to.

I prefer the wahls diet. It's like the paleo but includes broths, sea veggies and fermented foods. Dr myhill
recomends the paleo diet for pwcs.

My attempt at trying to heal my gut via diet, etc is hampered because of all the years I ate gluten.
I found out that I have the DQ2 gene back in 2008, after 50 years of eating gluten.
My gut can't heal because gluten is freakin everywhere so I'm always damaging it. Nsaids damage our guts too tho. As do parasites, h pylori, etc.

Fwiw, I don't believe anyone who makes their protocal sound like a miracle cure. And, imho, the gaps or scd diet doesn't work in many cases but it's heavily promoted on the web. I'm suspicious of this pr tactic. This diet allows dairy, pancakes (yes pancakes made with certain ingredients), juices, etc.

In researching
autism, I've found out that various treatments can help but it all depends on the child's degree of
severity, age of inteevention, genes, etc. imho, The book "healing the 4 a's" was good and explains this.

Leaky gut is what all integrative / functional doctors treat. Googling functional medicine will explain
this.

I'm not aware f a me/cfs leaky gut
socialist but since treating the gut eliminates so many illnesses can't see why anyone would
specialize. Not to mention that those diagnosed with me/cfs present with a WIDE variety of smptoms. tc . X

If you could find Dr. Chia's contact information, you could try to reach him and ask about a leaky gut specialist. I only say this because Dr. Chia's specialty evolves highly around the gut.

Colostrum, IgA 40%
Oral glutithione to feed the gut cells, won't go systemic.
Acidopillus only with addtnl kefir
GLA found in Evening Primrose Oil
Salmon oil and Cod Liver Oil, the vitamin A and D content and everything to do with the retinol pathway and G proteins.

Pretty much tried everything to no avail, until I found these suggestions from someone in Holland in which broke down the biochemical events tied to CFS.

There is a test for intestinal permeability, no specialist needed. Wouldn't this be a good start?

What is this test called, nanonug? (i just know you're going to say the intestinal permeability test):p

I should know this by now. I spend half my 'research time' forgetting what i just investigated.
Even my newly organized filing system is not helping.

Ive become mute in front of my GP because i hope for nothing from our 7minute consults. But this is the wrong attitude
i guess. Shes willing enough to refer me to tests if i just ask specifically.

Think it's hard to go wrong with L-glutamine for gut issues. NT Factor is said also to repair the gut, by providing bio-identical lipids for healing GI tissue.

But like drew & others said, you really have to get to the source of the problem to really completely fix it, whether addressing food allergies, candida, etc. In the meantime, stuff like glutamine can at least start helping a little and could probably even be synergistic with other efforts. After all, there's no law that says you can't start repairing your gut until after you've repaired it. ;-)

My leaky gut got much better so I dont really notice it being much of an issue now, (I assume it got better as all the food intollerences I had, I was able to eat all those things again.. except still cant have much coffee but I suspect that may be more due to the caffiene/adrenaline thing when mine is already high).

I became better after working out a lot of different food intollerences I had and then just avoiding as completely as I could those things long term. (than several years later I could eat them all again eg I couldnt have dairy but now I can).

Has anyone gotten better (significantly or "recovered") - and stayed that way - after fixing their gut?
