Catch everything in sight. Help for immune system?

I often read on here about people who never get sick with anything, cold, flu etc. because of the way their immune system is functioning. I have the opposite problem, I seem to be unable to fight off anything that comes my way, and I get sick longer and more severely than others who catch the same thing. Are there any supplements or other things to do to help this problem? I have had problems with food poisoning, colds, flus, stomach flus, etc.

I went from the immune state you are in now to the other--never catch anything! This is probably a progression.

Seems like some good immune testing would be very helpful for you to find out what is going on and the type of treatment that might help.

as for your question i get colds alot, and i get stomach flu several times a year usually when kids start school but they dont always get it but i do...it is hard to get sick with anything else when you are already so sick with these illness...not sure why some get sick and some dont..good question hope you get lots of good answers

my throat stays very very sore but been told it is from the fibro/cfs hurts to swallow alot...and lymph nodes stay swollen sometimes worse than others and doctor gives antibiotic that works ok..

Exactly which lab tests have you found to be helpful for sorting this out?

Like Ocean, I catch everything and it lingers for weeks/months. I don't have a CFS doctor, but my naturopath and a local holistic doctor, who work together, would be willing to run tests if I came up with them.

I have had a lot of immune testing but it is complex and I can't interpret it myself--so I guess a good practitioner goes hand-in-hand with good testing. Since I can't interpret these tests, (I don't understand how the various tests inter-relate to form an immune picture) I can't really tell you which ones are the most important.

Could your local medical people check with Dr. Klimas's office about something like that? I think she does a lot of immune testing for her ME/CFS patients too.

Unless they have a specific interest in ME/CFS, they probably wouldn't know what were the relevant tests--ME/CFS specialists often have the experience to know what is likely to be dysfunctional in our patient group. It can be quite different from other diseases such as HIV.

Again, a practitioner might check in with Dr. Klimas's office as she is an immunologist who focuses on ME/CFS>

I have done great with getting my body strong with all of my supplements and the right food. Hormone balancing also. As a result, better sleep which helps also.

The best for me has been Maitake D Fraction drops twice a day, AHCC, getting my vit D level up, good probiotics, Astragalus and others. If I do start to get a cold, I take Oregacillin, Sambucal and others. There are some excellent things that helps overall immune system thankfully.

hello ocean, thanks for remembering very kind of you to ask : )
yes it was longggggg...but i used alot of the tips that everyoene were so kind to post and suggest and the tips helped alot..i suggest anyone going on any trip look up the great tips others have posted here they help me alot....

you would be proud of me i stuck up for myself...i usually am very much a peopel pleaser and will make others happy beofre myself...and take the sometimes cruel jokes and comments and not say nothing but i stuck up for myself {i posted on another post about it} there were some negative comments...the you look so healthy why cant you do blah blah i can...etc..but i spoke up and put a stop to it and it stopped...and i told them up front i was too ill to do alot and they were suirprisely nice about it...

still wore down..it wasnt easy trip...very tired...back hurts ALOT but i was so happy to see my family...felt so loved and i needed that..

hubby family was very out of line...starting argument yelling about the darn dna test he had done to find real father...they couldnt leave it alone...i was very sick that day and felt they were way out of line in first place and yelled back telling them and they looked shocked and shut up and appoligized....hubby got them together told them {cant post exact words here} bascailly none of their bussiness, and to stay out of his bussiness...i still worry they will cause trouble for us and kids...get hubby or kids fired..they brag knowing poeple in government offices there {very small town} that can look in peoples files and see their yearly income where work etc..and bragged got people fired before..ive already decided they cause us any trouble i plan on finding out who to contact because it cant be right for them to look up anyone and everyoens yearly income through social security records for devious reasons...

but all in all it was a good trip...thanks for asking...im still recovering...taking it easy...great to talk to my online friends : )

Thanks Hurting. Good for you for standing up for yourself and for surviving the trip and taking care of yourself during it. That's a big victory! I'm doing a bit better than I was so I'm able to sit out in our yard and get some sun, makes summer much better for me. Happy fourth to you and everyone!
