statistics of ME/CFS

I was wondering if anyone has heard of the statistics of ME/CFS in the US.
I have heard many different numbers.....6 million?
or.....for every 100,000 the range of 7 to 3,000!! Shocking that we don't know.

What has anyone heard? I would be interested to know.
Thanks, Leslie

The numbers will all depend on what ME/CFS definition is being used at a the time...so what exactly one is looking at.

Hi, Leslie.

I've heard for the US the figure 1 million and also 4 million. Worldwide rate 17 million. Sorry to say I don't know the sources for these figures, but they are -- or have been -- cited by advocates asking for more money for research.
