Experiencing Covid-19 in a Nursing Home (Day .. Whatever)

I highly recommend against procuring this version of covid-19. I'm assuming it's omicron. But in any case, my body has been battling to a draw thus far.

Today my fever spiked at 103°.. but now I'm back down to 97 tolerable degrees. But every day, this is the thing. It seems like I'm getting better, but then I am not.

The nurses here insist this is common, two steps forward, then two back. But I suppose most importantly, my oxygen level has been good the past two days.

I've had every symptom thus far, besides the loss of taste and smell. And I do feel as though most symptoms are steady or improving. So, a good outlook for me, but perhaps not for others.

Based upon a partial sample size, a substantial sum of residents AREN'T vaccinated. That's right, within this most vulnerable group over half of the residents in this wing alone, may not be vaccinated. I cannot share the specific details, but WOWWWW! Right? A lot of these people just aren't going to make it.

Note: my roommate is still alive.

Anyway, it's best that I have this now, before the whole building is stricken. I am getting dedicated attention.

This is all I got at the moment. My biggest problem overall is that my GI system shutdown four days ago. Everything, everywhere, is stuck. And all of the excess pressure is exiting through my feeding tube stoma.. along with content. So I cannot feed. At all. However, I'll be okay once everything re-engages. I've just got to find a way to trigger something.

To be honest, I've been struggling a fair amount. But I've also received great support from a number of people, in here, and out there.

Take care,
Howard

good evening everyone,

I have some very good news. Howard's sister just contacted me and told me Dr's expect him to recover and be released after a few more days of anti viral and antibiotics. Hes still nauseous from meds but was able to do a little feed today. His bp is low so they are trying another med for that now. Hes obviously weak but he is a unbelievable fighter. Truly, his strength is amazing.

Thank you for your love and light for him dear sweet Phoenix Rising friends. You guys are incredible. Keep it coming. Hes got a little more to get through.

Love,
Sunshine

@Howard....I do hope you're feeling better for longer periods of time.

I wanted to mention that rectal suppositories can be prescribed for ongoing nausea & vomiting. Should have mentioned them sooner. When needed, they're a great help. I hope your GI tract is accepting your formula.

I know your big pay-off will be joining the gang outside again. All of the best for 2022, @Howard. Yours, Lenora.

@Howard

So good to hear that you are stable enough to be returned to your nursing home.

You have us quite a scare, there!

I suspect the road to recovery will be a long one, but I'm so grateful you pulled through, Howard.

Warmly,
Z

HI @Howard....Welcome back! I'm so glad this is behind you although you'll probably be quite exhausted for a while yet.

Are you in a room alone? Any news on your roommate....and exactly what was wrong with you? Do you think it was Omicron (sounded like it in spite of the negative tests). Anyway, you're on your way back and I'm very happy.

And me, well I'm flat on my back after a particularly bad fall about 2 nights ago. Can't get out of bed and I don't know when that will be. Just doing my best and trying not to cause my hubby too much aggravation. It has made me think that perhaps we'd better have a wheelchair for emergency use. I've had much worse falls but this one just had me hit all of the very wrong places.

Well, I am so pleased to hear that you're on the mend. Take it easy now, please....and stay away from other people. This year's worse than last, isn't it?

Many good wishes being sent your way for a good recovery. Take care. Yours, Lenora.
