Why Herxheimer reactions are worse at night

I've never seen this published but I find that Herxheimer reactions always increase in intensity as cortisol levels drop in the afternoon. This is for to the same reason that stress causes ME-stress also increases cortisol which suppresses the painful Hirscheimer inflammation.

I've also read somewhere that liver detox ramps up at night as well so maybe that's a part of it too. ???

Small amount of cortisol actually increases the level of inflammation from toxins - large amount indeed suppress; also normally(in relatively healthy beings) melatonin suppress inflammation by a lot but its release becomes largely inhibited by raised toxins/inflammation.
