Asperger's Syndrome Online Tests and Symptoms List, Introvert, ADD/ADHD, OCD, Neurotypical

It was a few years ago that I first learned about Asperger's Syndrome. Although I recognized some of the traits in myself I didn't think I had it, but recently I decided to take some online tests. Both tests said I had Asperger's (albeit a mild case). I don't know for sure if I have it or not, but please don't tell me that you think I don't have it. There are some people on the far end of the spectrum while I'm closer to "normal" (whatever that means). My test results as well as a list of symptoms are below, but first I'll recomend some multimedia resources to learn more about Asperger's Syndrome. Also, I would recommend checking out this thread on introverts since most (if not all) people with Asperger's appear to either be introverted or have introvert traits.

I first learned about Asperger's while watching a documentary/reality show on MTV called Made. Despite being on MTV, Made was actually a good show. One episode was about a high school boy with Asperger's. I'll host the first part of the episode here as well as a link to parts 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Click the link below for the rest of the episodes.

Then I saw a movie called Adam about a young man with Asperger's who's struggling to make it in the world after his father passes away. He is on the far end of the Asperger's spectrum. I'd recommend the movie to just about anyone.

What prompted me to finally decide to take the online tests was after watching a guy on YouTube named PewDiePie play a computer game called To The Moon where one of the main characters has Asperger's. There really isn't much gameplay as it's basically just a device to advance the story so even if you're not into video games I'd recommend checking it out. The story is very touching and people say you can't finish it without crying. The game is actually quite funny too. I should warn people that although the game itself is PG rated, the person playing the game does use foul language so don't watch it with kids around or if you're offended by that kind of stuff. Some people find PewDiePie annoying, but I find him hilarious. I don't laugh very often, but when I watch his videos I laugh a lot. He's one of the few bright spots in my otherwise dull existence. Also, please don't post any spoilers about the movie or the game. I would recommend watching the game on YouTube in HD and fullscreen so you can follow what's going on so I'll post a link to the first episode and also you can watch the video on this page if you don't feel like opening a new tab.

If you don't feel like watching the entire thing, I'd recommend just watching this part. Isabelle is talking about Asperger's. Both Isabelle and her sister, River, have Asperger's, but they have dealt with it in a different manner.
There were a lot of comments by people with Aspergar's who were watching the video. These are some of the many YouTube comments I found for the various To The Moon episodes.
I went through my childhood without knowing I had Aspergers and people just assumed I had issues. I thought the same way. I remember I was sitting along at lunch one time when a new girl from my class come over and sat down next to me. I didn't know what to do. She introduced herself as Ophelia. I didn't say anything. She didn't seem to mind. Ophelia did all the talking. Now Ophelia is my best friend and I would lay my life on the line for her. I know that she would do the same.

i think the syndrome they are talking about is autism even if it isnt i started crying caus ei live with autism and i feel like isabelle was describing me and not herself i feel as if im an actor everyday i pretend to know social norms and so on is just so hard even if the syndrome isnt autism i will forever feel connected to this scene cause i bawled cause isabelle just described my life
there's nothing wrong with having aspergers we're just wired differently. People think its more common in boys but its just girls are harder to diagnose cuz their symptoms are more hidden

i think she has Asburgers (its a mental disorder that affects personality) i have the same
its awkward, makes u odd, but i like it, being different.
its more fun than not being different ^^

My brother has Aspergers.. :( He may get bullied sometimes at school.. people dont understand. I hope this doesnt happen to him. I'd be heartbroken and im sure he would too,..
My partner has Asperger syndrome, I've been with him for 8 almost 9 month and I can't see how life was without him..

This is the first test and below is my score. There are 50 questions. I'm not sure what else to say about it.

This test is longer, but it gives you more in depth answers. It also separates traits into Asperger's and Neurotypical. I read the Wikipedia entry for neurotypical and it said it described people without autism, but I'm confused because this test said I had both neurotypical and Asperger traits. Also, the traits listed are all the possible traits (not just mine).

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to check out the test. I have a nephew with Aspbergers, and I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find I score pretty high.

Hi. I have an offical Aspergers diagnosis which in my country has to be done by two Autism specialists in agreement on it after viewing childhood history (throu answers given by people who knew me as a child) and how I are now. My aspergers diagnoses had been missed by 6 psychologists and 2 psychriastrists who I saw who werent specialists in it (instead those labeled me with borderline personality disorder due to my black and white thinking etc). Make sure you see someone who really knows a lot about Aspergers if you think you have something wrong and want a diagnoses.

A great book on Aspergers which I highly recommend is by Tony Attwood (an well known Aspergers specialist) called "The complete guide to Aspergers Syndrome". On reading this book I wondered how on earth my Aspergers diagnoses had been missed for so long. It was finally first recongised by a dr I started living with who had an Aspergers son, Aspergers husband and an Aspergers brother.. and hence then sent me to Aspergers specialists for a proper diagnoses.

Those online tests. I did in the past before my offical diagnoses.. and they came out saying I had Aspergers or probable Aspergers.

I just redid one of the tests and got exactly the same score as you "Thank you for taking the AQ Test

Your AQ Test Score is: 34

The official criteria for Aspergers Syndrome is an AQ score greater than 32.

"

That's funny - I thought I had left a comment here. I got:

Your Aspie score: 104 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 108 of 200
You seem to have both Aspie and neurotypical traits.

Maybe we need to start a 'borderline Aspie' community where we can feel normal! I did some internet searches for 'borderline Asperger' and did find an Aspie forum which was very friendly and welcoming to a newbie who was borderline. I didn't make a note of the URL.

Does that longer test (150 questions) list what the Aspie range is? I haven't gone over all the information, but they didn't seem to give any information in the results like the other test.

I didn't see anything about the range in relation to the overall score, only re the individual sections in the pdf. Hope that makes sense - I am brain-fogged at the moment!

I know someone who got a 30 on the first test and over 130 on the second test, but I got 34 on the first test and 114 on the second test. I don't think any test is going to be completely accurate, but I think they might be more accurate than if a psychiatrist or therapist tried to diagnose someone.

Thank you for taking the AQ Test
Your AQ Test Score is: 34

The official criteria for Aspergers Syndrome is an AQ score greater than 32.

According to statistical analysis, 26 – 31 Is a borderline score.

86% of people with this score can be correctly classified as having Aspergers Syndrome.

Hi Lotus. I scored a 30.

I consider myself a heavy introvert. To the point that it causes me some of the expected problems of someone with Aspergers. I find it quite difficult to express myself writing, as I sort of lack that human flow and don’t really think of the mindset of others. However I’m very interested in other people, particularly in what makes them tick, even if I don’t like meeting them or making eye contact. I’ve developed all sorts of coping mechanisms that probably strike people on the outside as odd. I definitely find that my ASD symptoms correspond to the degree of my disease. If I’m around too much stimulation, especially bright lights, I’m pushed further into my head. Certainly one thing that goes against me being lumped in with Asperger’s is that I’m hypersensitive to the change in facial cues from those I’m speaking with. I believe this suggests a self-conscious introvert rather than someone on the spectrum.

I’ve watched all sorts of television documentaries about ASD’s. I notice that they often categorize all the great introverted geniuses as Asperger’s. I believe this is wrong.

I’ve often wondered how someone could be extraverted with this disease and the concomitant brain fog. How can one stay connected, and even prefer the outside, with brain fog?
