When Luc Montagnier won the Nobel Prize for his discovery of HIV (side note: Luc does NOT believe that HIV causes AIDS), in his speech he went on to say (much to Big Pharma's horror): "get on antioxidants." Facilitated by the U.N., I met Luc just before he was honored with The Prize.
Regardless of the cause, these maladies are illnesses of oxidative stress.
