elevated levels of vitamin B12 in blood

Since many of the CFS/ME protocols recommend taking high doses of vitamin B12, has anyone ever had their levels tested? If your blood vitamin B12 is higher than the normal range is it safe to continue to take it since your body is not utilizing it as well so better to have too much than too little? Does anyone have experience with blood tests for elevated vitamin levels? Thank you!

Yes, that is perfectly safe. It is quite common that blood levels go through the roof when you supplement with b12, and they may stay high for months or even years. Treatment with b12 must be evaluated by symptoms, not by blood levels.

I saw that mentioned a lot too on the thiamine website Hormonesmatter, I think even for people who weren't supplementing B12.
