Food Allergy Cures?

Has anyone had success with eliminating some or all of their food allergies? If so, how? I'm not talking about simply avoiding the allergic foods, but actually eliminating the reaction.

I've gotten to the point where I'm allergic to so many foods that I'm not getting enough nutrients and am not able to do even a shortened basic rotation diet.

I tried BioSet acupressure-based food allergy elimination some years ago and it did help with some of the allergies, but many of them came back. It also felt like many of the foods weren't totally cleared, but that I was just less allergic to them. Those were the ones that tended to come back more quickly.

I recently started working with a nutritionist using Asyra EAV testing and treatment for food allergies, but am not sure how well it's working so far. The software tests to see what you're allergic to, then a homeopathic remedy is imprinted with the frequencies of the various foods at the potency levels you test for. You take the drops over a period of weeks or months before the allergy is cleared.

I finished 6 weeks of drops and tried one of the foods I've been allergic to (peanuts), but had the same reaction I used to have. I think sometimes you have to take the drops for another round if they don't clear the first time. The nutritionist is also going to give me food phenolics vials for my husband and I to clear at home (using the BioSet technique).

Deseret Biologicals has a series of remedies for food allergy clearing, but it looks like a whole kit that a professional would buy. They may also have alcohol in them -- not sure.

Anyway, I just wondered if anyone else has had success with these or any other methods for clearing food allergies. Also, does anyone know WHY people with CFS get food allergies -- what the root cause is? Is it just an overactive immune system or effect of candida?

Thanks for any input.

I had individual food provocation / desensitisation for food allergies and then Enzyme Potentiated Desensitisation (EPD). Took years but I was able to tolerate more and more different foods after these. I was stable for about 10 years and with a much wider diet.

My original allergies were diagnosed by skin prick and blood tests at the allergy clinic of a conventional hospital.

Then a few years ago, I had a terrible bout of food poisoning and developed other digestion problems but this is another story.

Is EPD the same thing as conventional food allergy desensitization shots? I did try the desensitization shots some years ago, but even my doctor who prescribed them said they were only about 70% effective -- that is, they didn't totally eliminate the allergy. That was my experience too, so I didn't stay on them very long.

I still avoid a number of foods (wheat, grains, sugars), but probiotics and digestive enzymes (No Fenol from Houston Enzymes) have nearly eliminated most of the sensitivities I developed. I don't have any true IgE type food allergies (the anaphylactic response type) though.

I also put lemon juice in water and take 500mg of ascorbic acid with each meal.

I developed allergies about 4 years ago. This year they became so bad I started the shots and can't wait to hit that 70% effective.lol
Dustmites and dust are my enemy and trying to avoid them is close to impossible...I'm getting the food scratch test soon.
It's all immune related but not everyone with cfs/me/ebv has allergies..it's all part of this insane puzzle.
Lemon and water are very good for the liver which is suppose to be connected to allergies.
I really hope you find some relief soon CBS64.

I did an Alletess food allergy test (blood test) recently and am allergic to 28 foods. Also nitrates and nitrites which are not on the test, but I know this from experience and what my environmental medicine doc says.

The naturopath who did the Alletess test has said to take desensitation drops. It would take several years to clear the food allergies. This is similar in principal to the shots, but it's in a drop form that you can do at home.

They also had me do a 3 month round of Xymogen IGG powder a few years ago to heal the gut and keep new allergies from forming. Since I don't have a "before" test, I don't know if the IGG Powder did anything or not.

Rich Vank has said that doing the methylation protocol will help heal the gut and help you tolerate more foods.

My new adrenal naturopath has said the same thing about doing adrenal treatment. He said NAET (similar to Bioset) works about 50% of the time.

You're also supposed to be able to use EFT yourself at home to clear allergies. The advantage of this would be it's free, it's convenient and if the allergy comes back, you can redo it. This would be similar to the other energy methods such as NAET and Bioset. I think I cleared corn this way, but I again I don't have a "before" test to prove it.

I think the ultimate solution though is going to be to heal the gut. I think the reactions are from leaky gut. If the gut isn't leaky then no reactions even if technically you're still allergic to them because they can no longer get into the bloodstream.

I probably need to have a good talk with my EM doc too, since he specializes in allergies, but I don't get to see him til Sept.

Anyway, I feel everyone's pain regarding this issue. This sure is a tough one to deal with.

caledonia,

I looked up the Xymogen IGG powder online to see what's in it. It says it has serum-derived immunoglobulins in it. Do you happen to know what the source is for this? Just wondering if it's derived from animals or dairy or what. I'm not able to tolerate transfer factor because it's derived from dairy. But this product might be something I'd like to try.

Did your practitioner give you anything else to heal the gut?

I don't really know what's in it. I don't tolerate dairy well and I was able to tolerate the powder fine. But it sounds like you're more sensitive to dairy than I am. Maybe you can email the manufacturer for more details.

I've also done probiotics, digestive enzymes, and betaine hydrochloride, gluten free and dairy free diet. I just got done with a 3 month round of GI Benefits by Da Vinci Labs for my nighttime acid reflux.

Not so serious ;)
If you have a leaky gut, you will become allergic to everything you eat.
The proteins from what you eat, will leak into your blood, and the immune system wil start to fight it.
An allergic reaction towards eggs, should be an indicator for leaky gut, my doc (trained by KDM) told me

Yes. I have been seeing an NAET specialist.
A good one will
1) make sure the body balance formula is tested frequently, as treatments don't hold as well without 2) tell you to avoid the food group for 25 hours

They use kinesiology to test food sensitivities. I tried a normal specialist but it looked like two years to eliminate one allergy and basically it'd itch like crazy after.
Where as i've had maybe 10 sessions and its lowered the sensitivities down alot. Putting in probiotics + l-glutamine is an idea to help the stomach.

Gavman,

Can you tell me more about the 'body balance formula' that your practitioner uses? What company makes it? Is there more than one remedy? Does it have alcohol in it?

When I did BioSET allergy clearings over 10 years ago, they helped with some of my allergies, but many of the clearings didn't hold. The practitioner I went to then was using drainage remedies with her clients, but since they had alcohol I couldn't tolerate them. I'm interested in doing anything I can to help the treatments hold.

Do you need to rotate your foods to avoid developing new allergies? I've had to do that for many years and would love to be able to stop.

Thanks

Smygen hit the nail on the head. I have cured myself of wheat allergy.

I had a wheat allergy, detected by Ig whatever blood test, but since no one told me the symptoms (and I expected it to be nasal rhinitis which wheat did not cause) I forgot about this allergy and had to discover that I had the allergy on my own, the symptoms being mental depression and painful joints. I followed a celiac diet for 2 years but it resulted in frequent low blood sugar attacks from not enough carbohydrate (and this is medically worse). So I bit the bullet and went back to eating wheat (it was hard at first because by avoidance I had become MUCH more sensitive...what happens when you avoid like that is you make yourself diabetic, so my blood sugar went high when I started eating it again and I had to lower it with supplements like alpha lipoic acid for a few weeks until I stabilized). Then I started supplementing zinc, which cured my leaky gut.

ok zinc. I read that zinc "fills in the crevices in the nose through which cold germs get in." I asked my eye doctor and he said zinc helps the capillaries in the eyes not to leak (because the capillaries are skin). And so I reasoned that the gut is skin also and that without enough zinc, the body makes skin with larger pores to most effectively utilize what zinc there is. The larger pores let UNDIGESTED WHEAT in which is known to cause mental depression and the like. So zinc made the pores in my intestines go back to normal size and I had no more problem with wheat.

If I don't take care of myself (let my zinc levels fall) I will get it back. However, generally if I get low in zinc I get a zit or two and that tells me to pull out the bottle and start supplementing.

It's too soon to tell but I've been taking Low Dose Naltrexone for a few days and I already feel less sensitive.

My experience:
NAET did not work.
EPD made me much worse.
Conventional allergy injections is a completely different thing to EPD. They are seriously backed up and reconised in conventional medicine and literature, unlike EPD. They made me more tired and I was unable to complete the course of them becasue of that.

I don't think an allergy to eggs shows that you automatically have leaky gut. Is there are published paper or research that says that?
Is leaky gut recognised in conventional medicine at all?

Check for SIBO and if positive, treat it.

Try to increase gut motility and try to eat a high variety of foods.
