Looks like some good topics including:
- Dennis Mangan on Sok Outcomes and committee discussions
- ICD-CM concerns
- agencies to report out on progress of recommendations (probably as a result of Sebilius letter found on this thread http://forums.phoenixrising.me/showthread.php?11272-CFSAC-letter-from-Sebelious)
- SS Disability and ERISA and Insurance issues

I'm happy to see a fair amount of discussion time for committee members, that is what we truly need - discuss, debate and forge a new way forward!

This continues to be an exciting time for us on the heels of a powerful SoK, national awareness at Obama townhall meeting, powerful activities planned for May awareness, and the Chase Community Giving!!

Good luck to all attending the meeting/awareness days in Washington, we will be cheering you on from our sofas and beds - thank you for being our voice :victory:

Live streaming of CFSAC Meeting (US) today, 10-11 May

Shortlink: Post # 76: http://wp.me/pKrrB-14n

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Advisory Committee (CFSAC)
May 10-11, 2011
Room 800, Hubert H. Humphrey Building
200 Independence Ave, S.W.
Washington, D.C. 20201

A reminder that Day One of the two day spring CFSAC meeting will be streaming live today.

A copy of the Meeting Agenda is published in this Dx Revision Watch post:

CFSAC Spring 2011 Meeting Agenda (May 10-11): http://wp.me/pKrrB-126

Public and Written Testimonies can be read and downloaded from this page of the CFSAC website:

http://www.hhs.gov/advcomcfs/meetings/presentations/05102011.html

The meeting proceedings can be watched live at this page (Requires Windows Media Player version 9 or higher or Silverlight Player installed):

http://nih.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=26

The videocast has simultaneous subtitles.

The meeting opens at 9.00am Washington D.C. time (which is around 5 hours time difference with UK). So streaming should commence about five minutes before 2.00pm UK time (usually the microphones are switched off until just before the meeting starts, so anticipate video only until the meeting is called to order).

ICD-10-CM proposed coding issue

I am pleased that the issue of the proposed coding for CFS in the forthcoming ICD-10-CM (the US specific Clinical Modification of ICD-10 scheduled for implementation in October 2013 and subject to a partial code freeze, in October 2011) has been placed back on the agenda and that an hours time has been tabled for discussion of this important item.

Discussion of ICD-10-CM is tabled to start at 1.15pm Washington D.C. time, today, Day One (around 6.15pm UK time).

Me too, in UK, I get this. I've got Windows Media Player and I've just downloaded and installed the Silver thingie but looks like no server access. Can someone in US phone the site and see if access can be switched on, please?

I also sent an email to "cfsac@hhs.gov" -- just in case they are monitoring the email account during the meeting and didn't know that we can't get in.

Frustrating -- I'm so exhausted from having to get up at this time.

I've got it streaming but my bandwith today is 160 / 3,840 and having trouble buffering, so unless the speed is better later in the day, I'm going to have to give up on it. The archived videos have been OK in the past over my connection, but getting it streaming live for a just a few seconds with stop-start buffering will drive me nuts.

CFSAC May 2011 Comments

Just a post for anyone who wants to comment on what they saw!

*****************************************************************

NO new funding oppotunities specifically for ME/CFS per NIH will be extended. The current funding opportunities expire in September of THIS year and researchers will be left to scrounge for funding again.

For me its working, but with interruptions. I like they are streaming these events, but it would be great if the streams were more reliable. With the SoK Workshop streams i had problems as well. And it's not my connection or computer, other streams, downloads, uploads etc. work perfectly.
