Why do antibiotics help most of us?

I think antibiotics might calm microglial activation,I saw something about them helping schizophrenia.

I think its only one type of antibiotic minocycline that helps with some schizophrenia and I think its still only shown with small open label trials. I believe that this particular antibiotic is good at crossing the blood brain barrier.

I think there is a wider point that perhaps a discussion of antibiotics help don't help should also be this particular antibiotic helped?

That just reminded me that my father-in-law was prescribed Doxycycline for Parkinson's vs. another med. We were initially surprised but now (kind of) understand the mechanism.

ABX help most of us? That's news to me. Personally, each course I took pushed me further into disability.

I was wondering if you have POTS or Oi?

Reason I ask is because POTS or low blood volume could be making it worse. OI Specialist told ME most with POTS have trouble with ABX.

I think many of the improvements that certain people experience may be from the anti-inflammatory effect of these antibiotics (in particular doxy and minocycline). My immune system crashes after 1 month on any antibiotic and I start to feel much worse. Those who have chronic lyme or mycoplasma may well benefit from long-term abx, but I think it's a minority of people here.

I've tried a wide range of AB's yet it wasn't until I combined one with an anti-viral that I did feel a little better after taking it. Up until then I always felt much worse on or after AB's.

It was Doxycycline and Valtrex. However, taking Doxy for more than a few weeks at a time left me feeling "normal" again - i.e with my usual ME symptoms, While on the Doxy/ Valtrex combo I felt only a little better and no where near a cure or big breakthrough.

I had been taking AB's because of repeated sinus and throat/tonsills infection.

I've taken antibiotics two or three times since I've had CFS, and every time I noticed I felt slightly better. I'll never forget the feeling I had one day when, despite still feeling physically ill, my brain felt 'normal' again. There was no brain fog or tiredness, and I remembered what it was like to feel healthy. I wish I could take a much longer course to see what would happen.

I personally have not had significant improvements
thanks to antibiotics;
I firmly believe the origin of the viral ME and because the story
of the disease, with dozens of outbreaks recorded in the world and the frequent cases of ME (or similar diseases) in the same environment (family,
friendship, business ......) prove it, but above all from personal experience,
because since 1985 (31 years of ME) I noticed many people (family members, relatives, friends, colleagues) to manifest the symptoms of our disease.

However, some antibiotics may also have other effects, including that antiviral ....

I found these two links interested ....

Antibiotics always makes me feel better. It is like my body has been fighting something. I don't realize how miserable I am until I get a 10 day supply of antibotics. I feel so light after the second day like I drop all that weight I have been dragging all day long. It feels great not having my body under stress day in and out.

I'm another who looks forward to taking antibiotics . Thought I was cured after a severe burst appendix / laparotomy . I suspect it's their anti inflammatory effect or immune modulating effects or anti microglial effects. Bladder infection abs don't help, just upper respiratory ones minocycline and flaygl of all things . My throats improves , brain clears etc etc
