From the rules, it looks to me that the competition doesn't close until Jan 2017. I've re-read Ryan's tweets and they don't actually say that there's a 10 day deadline; he simply asks us to vote every day for 10 days. It seems that perhaps he wants the community to do a 10 day voting sprint so we can catch up with the leader.
