Solve ME/CFS Initiative (SMCI):

Take action! Restore ME/CFS Funding now!
Last week, the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor-HHS finally released their vision of federal spending for Fiscal Year 2018 in H.R. 3358. We are disheartened to share that the accompanying committee report, again, zeroed out the $5.4 million line item for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome at the CDC’s Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases. Now, we turn to the Senate to restore the funding for these critical research, education, and awareness programs.

To push back against this reduction, we’ve made it very easy. Send a message to your members of congress.

Done, comment added:

"This is the least the Feds can do if they are going to impoverish Americans for another generation! And you ladies need to do something for NH constituents besides grand standing and fund raising off the back of a duly elected President! "

From: SMCI This Week

Senate Appropriations Committee recommends restoring ME/CFS funding
On September 7, the ME/CFS community breathed a sigh a relief as the Senate Appropriations Committee passed S. 1711 with accompanying committee report language that recommends restoring the $5.4 million chronic fatigue syndrome program under the CDC’s National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Diseases. In July, the House version of the budget (H.R. 3358) had zeroed out these funds in the House Committee report. Both the House and Senate reports include several recommendations to CDC, NIH, and HHS that were proposed by SMCI, #MEAction, and other advocates during the May ME/CFS Advocacy Week. We are pleased to see this support and growth of interest reflected in the Senate appropriations bills and look forward to continuing to fight for these items to be included after the reconciliation process in the final budget legislation in October.

The Prevention and Public Health Fund is solely used to fund the CDC's CFS program.

An article about cuts to that is here:

Cuts to Prevention and Public Health Fund Puts CDC Programs at Risk

Reductions from the budget passed today and a $750-million shift of funds to the Children’s Health Insurance Program add pressure to public health initiatives, including immunizations and outbreak responses.
