    Extended release may be an improvement if it avoids treatment/withdrawal 'kindling'.

    here is a figure of note from the open label study..

    Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) and Numeric Pain Rating System (NPRS) Scores over Time. NPRS and FIQ showed significant improvement in first 4 weeks. At 12-week follow-up, patients began titration off the medication that leads to increase in NPRS and FIQ at 15-week follow-up. NPRS scores.
