While Googling, I found a new program on the CDC Foundation website:

Synthesis of XMRV Peptides
To develop a mass spectrometry method that can be used to identify and quantify a novel protein produced by the prostate-cancer-associated retrovirus XMRV in patient samples.

Funding Partners: Emory University School of Medicine
Program Partners: CDC's National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infections

I have no idea what this research entails... is it of any use to us? Is the CDC taking XMRV more serious?

Well they don't say much about it there, but this program implies that Emory is paying for it, or maybe another party.
