My migraine pain is entirely on the left side -- and that often happens with all types of migraine. But with the exception of severe fibromyalgia attacks, all of my muscle pain is also on the left side. I am referring to revolving, 24/7 symptoms in my left torso of aching, numbness, tingling, near-paralysis, inability to lift my arm, stabbing pain, what I call "chainsaw" pain, and the odd (grisly) sensation that my leg and arm are roasting on a spit.

Doctors have usually attributed all of this to hemiplegic migraine, but I am wondering of anyone with ME/CFS has also found that pain in the extremeties favours one side or the other.

Hi, meadowlark. Sorry to think you have any pain at all.

Right side for me, almost always. At my sickest the symptoms have been on both sides. I remember one time in the last few years when the sore throat was, weirdly, on the left side only.

Somewhere on this forum there is a thread on this subject if you want to read about the experiences of others.

Thank you, Merry, I will look for that thread.

Sore throat pain on one side? How bizarre and surreal our lives are!

Mainly right sided for me, but ranges from brain fog to a headache. Im thinking alot of this has to do due to poor brain perfusion. Another thread i started was my little experiment i did after reading about a treatment dr goldstein sometimes uses, small doses of viagra, it helps dilate the blood vessels in the brain which he said causes hypoxia and reduces the removal of metabolic waste products. I had a deep seated headache for about 10 days that didnt shift with many different treatment attempts. Then i remembered the viagra samples that sometimes get thrown in my antiviral orders, i used 1/4 of a tablet and within an hour the headache went, but must be careful if u suffer from pots. Im now investigating other things that would be alot cheaper to use that help improve cerebral perfusion.

    cheers!!!

Yes, meadowlark, I frequently experience sore throat and almost always on the right side only. The pain can come on suddenly and disappear suddenly, in as little as a half hour. I can be almost sure I will get a sore throat if I increase activity, but the pain sometimes starts spontaneously when I'm being - and have been for days - very, very quiet.
