Hey whats the update heapsreal with cycloferron for you? do you know what the immune tests are that a mainstream doc could order to see if we are up or down reg? I just knew of the ones WPI did on rnase and Nkcell but those are accepted or paid for in regular system.

I havent used it for maybe 6 months but have recently ordered some more, so hopefully get it in a few weeks. I think i really need the extra immune boosting effects as i seem to be prone to alot of bacterial infections of late. Im not sure what tests doctors can order for checking if immune system is up or down regulated, i think many with me/cfs have both going on. I have/had elevated lymphocytes and subsets which indicate my immune system is upregulated due to chronic viral infections. My nk function test showed that their function is low, so i have both going on but my immune system isnt that upregulated yet or that i know of that produce an autoimmune disease, for me the upregulation is due to infections which my body is trying to overcome and these cytokines from infections can also worsen symptoms. Cycloferon has some anti-inflammatory effects against viral infections which i have found helpful, but in saying that some people also have felt worse from the upregulation of their immune system, this seems to happen with many immune stimulants, its a trial and error thing i guess.

I had one nk function test while on cycloferon. Now in the cfs study they tested 3 things in the nk function test, one was a general nk function test, the other 2 were bright and dim cell function. My nk function actually increased above the level of the healthy control group but it didnt have any effect on dim nk cells or bright nk cells(which are the cells they are finding as abnormalities in cfs). Cycloferon did improve my symptoms and injection i found helpful with brain fog/inflammation within a few hours, this i think was due to its anti-inflammatory effects. Like most immune modulators, the immune system builds a tolerence to its effects so becomes less effective. So maybe need to alternate this treatment like 2 months on and 1 month off and like i found i need a longer break, so we will see how it works when i get my next order.

Its not the magic bullet but i think can help inconjunction with other treatments like antivirals and antibiotics. Its in the same class of treatments called interferon inducers like immunovir.

    cheers!!!

Hi All, I started cycloferron a few weeks ago-taking it every other day. At first, I noticed myself clearer and had more energy. Right now it is 2:30 am and after two ambien, I am nowhere near sleep. I feel hot and feverish, the worst part of it is the constant headache and body aches. The way I interpret this is that my immune system is attacking viruses (viri??) My lower back is on fire and have needed to take pain killers for it. Energy turns off and on at the wrong times. I am wide awake now and I get frustrated when this happens because I know tomorrow will suck energy wise. Maybe I'll slow it down to one tab every third day.

It sounds like your immune system is firing up, maybe take a few days off until everything calms down and then start up with dosing every 3 days like u mention.

Interesting how this thread popped up as i just recieved my cycloferon order today but i will being olding off for awhile as i have been on LDN for last week and today has been the clearest day i have had in awhile as maybe it was firing my immune system up like yours with cyclo. I have also just restarted valcyte the last 3 days as well and was expecting more die off type symptoms but so far touch wood everything is starting to improve?????

I think when we start getting these sort of symptoms we need to back off and restart slower again, it sounds like u have sorted it out john. The initial good effects sound promising. With immune modulators as well they say to take regular breaks are necessary to keep them working, i dont think its written in stone but by the looks of it maybe every 4 weeks looks like a good time for you to take a break of a week.

As for being awake at 230am in the morning, so was I lol, must be on the same wave length, got back to sleep at 4am for a few hours but managed to have an ok day, hope your not feeling too shabby.

    cheers!!!

    Hello!
I am from Russia. Sorry for my english.
Cycloferron is very popular in Russia for viruses/immunity. But it is not recommended to take it for a long time.
    Basic - you near 10 ampules 12.5. So u need 2 box (5amp, 10 total).
We are not using tablets for this, only injections.

Of course i tried it too with my CFS..
i tried Cycloferron, likopid and viferon all together.. There 3 are the most popular immunomodulators..
But i didnt feel any difference.. So i cannot recommend cycloferron.

I also tried stimulant with bromanthan (also popular in Russia).
It was recommended by Russian Cfs research center in 2001-2002....
Which should give mental/ physical energy.. good mood and others..
but it didnt help, i even felt worse.

Another treatment in Russia - transcranial electrical stimulation of the brain.
Dont know if u have this in your countries. It have very good reviews and also recommended by Russian Cfs research center in 2001-2002..
But again i didnt feel any difference..

So thats why i am here, because i cannot find good treatment in Russia..

Thanks for replying, its good to see others experience. Many of these immune mods like cyclo i think just stop working if taken for too long. this seem to happen to me with cyclo and immunovir and probably happens with other immune stimulants. Im thinking these immune stimulants just arent helpful until u have the main infections treated or use them for a cold etc

So is there still cfs research going on in russia? What other types of treatments are used in russia?

Have u been tested for other infections ebv, cmv etc.

its interesting to hear from someone who isnt in an english speaking country and find out if cfs/me is treated differently or not.

    cheers!!!

Immune modulators are not recommended in Russia to everyone if u want just to increase immunity, because your own immunity will not work good, if you often will get interferons.
Really i didnt find any fresh information about CFS research in Russia.. i googled a lot..
    Usually treatment looks like usual..
First of all they will test u for sex infections, hepatitis, anemia, kidneys, liver, thyroid and gormons..
After it, when they will not find anything, they will test you for cmv, herpes viruses, ebv..
And they will not find anything again.. =)
But we dont have tests in our labs for hv7, hv 8.

    I dont have cmv, hv6.

    My tests for EBV are:
Anti EBV NA igG 129 Ru/ml.
    Anti EBV VCA igG 91.7
    Anti EBV VCA igM 0.34

And my doctor said, that means i dont have EBV. That means i had it in the past, but now i am normal and dont have EBV.
Is it true? We have really poor information about EBV.

I have found information about CFS research in 2001-2002. They said their treatments works very good..
    1) transcranial electrical stimulation of the brain 1-3 mA.
    2) bromanthan (adamantane)
But it didnt help me as i said..
Also i heard about Bemithylum. I didnt tried it yet.. Do u heard about this?

And i have found some patented treatments (yes, in russian base of patents) , mostly looks like ethnoscience..Not sure if we can trust them)) But at least they have tested it on groups (around 40-50 peoples with CFS) and as they said with good results..
Ill check and will post info about this unknown patented treatments.

Thought i would restart this thread. Started cycloferon 3 days ago.

My 2 major infectious issues are cmv and staph sinusitis which are controlled well with avs and abx but when off these, the infections raise their ugly heads.

When off abx for sinusitis i last about 2 days and the sinus headaches and facial pain as well as blood pressure going up occur. I have been off abx now for 3 days, so far no issues with this, so its looking promising, fingers crossed?

CMV when off valcyte i last about 3 weeks and viral symptoms return which are global headaches(different to sinus headache), fatigue, memory issues and glands in my neck become sore, but i give it a week just to make sure this is the case and not just an ME up and down thing. Also it can be hard initially to distinguish between the cmv and sinusitis so need the extra time to be able to tell the difference. Within 3 days of being back on valcyte these symptoms ease dramatically, probably because viral load is down from the past longer treatment courses i have done. So im at the 3 week mark and no sign yet of viral symptoms.

Im hoping the cycloferon does its job of increasing interferon and nk function as well as neutrophils and macrophages. In the past i had some good success but i did have some issues with getting supplies at one stage. Also 2 things i think i did wrong last time, i think i stayed on cyclo too long without taking a break like one is suppose to with immune modes. So this time im doing cyclo for 5 weeks and then have a supply of immunovir i will switch too plus looking into a few other interferon inducers, specifically immunofan. The second thing, not really a mistake but i think these immune modes probably work better more at preventing infections or post antiviral treatment to help keep these infections down. A side note on inosine, i have been taking it for the past few months with no effect, so no more of that just immunovir when i go down that line.

So i think they would be useful in combo with antivirals or antibiotics for certain infections but really need to follow the av or abx treatment up with something like these interferon inducers to strengthen the immune system after infection treatment. And have a few to choose from to cycle between so tolerance doesnt occur to them.

I think for entroviral infections, they maybe worth using. dr chia has had some success with interferon treatments lower EV load but people feel alot worse on these treatment. Interferon inducers dont seem to have such severe side effects and many have anti inflammatory properties unlike interferon itself which can be very pro inflammatory.

I think its not one particular infection thats the issue for us but our dysfunctional immune system allowing these infections to take over. We need to treat the infections we find and then need to boost our immune function especially once we are on top of those infections??

I will keep this as my cycloferon log and see how long i can keep these to infections down.

My dosage schedule was 1 injection on thursday, followed by another on friday. From now on they will be mondays and thursdays. I have 10 ampoules, so should lasy approx 5 weeks.

    wish me luck;)

[The therapeutic efficacy of cycloferon and the pharmacological activity of interferon inducers].
    [Article in Russian]
Romantsov MG, Ershov FI, Kovalenko AL, Belova OG.
    Abstract
The review describes endogenous interferon inductors that belong to antiviral drugs and contain different chemical compounds. Among the groups identified by the authors, there are promising and most effective medicines inducing different types of interferon in the body, as well as their mechanism of action. The paper shows the synthesis of endogenous interferon and the level of its accumulation in the organs and tissues. The clinical effects of methylglucamine acridonacetate (cycloferon) are depicted in patients with major viral (influenza, acute respiratory viral and arboviral infections, and viral hepatitis) and bacterial (brucellosis, tuberculosis) infections, or endometrial hyperplastic processes. Cycloferon is shown to be used as an etiotropic and antipathogenic drug.

Synthetic and natural immunomodulators acting as interferon inducers.
Silin DS1, Lyubomska OV, Ershov FI, Frolov VM, Kutsyna GA.
    Author information

    Abstract
Interferons are first immunomodulatory molecules that have been shown to display a wide range of applications due to their antiviral, antibacterial, antitumor, and inflammatory activities. Natural and recombinant interferons are among most common biologic therapeutics worldwide. Interferon inducers, however, are less known and have been mostly developed and used in former socialist countries. Despite the fact that they are virtually unknown to the Western world, they represent a substantial market share of modern pharmacopoeia in former socialist republics. This review provides a brief description of most popular interferon inducers including Amyxin, Amizon, Anandin, Arbidol, Blasten, Cycloferon, Galavit, Groprinosine, Hepon, Immunoxel, Dzherelo, Kagocel, Larifan, Ligfol, Likopid, Mebavin, MIGI-KLP, V-5 Immunitor, SCV-07, Milife, Neovir, Poludan, Ragocin, Ridostin, Thymogen and Savratz, some of which were in use for several decades for the same clinical indications as for interferons. The variety and choice offered by the pharmaceutical industry behind the former "iron curtain" certainly deserves the appreciation, familiarity and application prospects for medical and research investigators worldwide.

I do wish you luck! Question: Do you need periodic bloodwork to see how your kidney and liver are doing on this treatment? Do you have a doc working with you on this or are you on your own?

I get regular blood work monitoring liver and kidney function while on antivirals. I have told him i use the cycloferon, its not an approved treatment here and not something he has put me on but he continues to monitor me. The research i have done on cycloferon has shown its very safe and has been in use since the 1960s.

Western medicine just doesnt have anything much in the way of things to help improve immune function. I have personally found cycloferon helpful and have had 1 nk function test while on cycloferon and it greatly improved my nk function compared to my test before using cycloferon.

From what i have read it seems western medicine in the 1950s and 60s were busy developing vaccines to prevent viral infections where the eastern block countries were trying to find ways to treat the viral infections once you had one. Raising the bodys own interferon levels was one of those ways in which they were developing substances to help treat viral infections.

Raising interferon is basically what immunovir and ampligen do. These methods appears safer and better tolerated then actual treatment with interferon which is used for hep c etc

    cheers!!
