retroviruses inactivated by human serum

    Exposure to human serum for any prolonged length of time will inactivate a retrovirus typically 3 to 5 hours---xmrv is thought to be worse than that---source j.cancer research 1995 nov86 (11):1010-3

    The osmorality of a solution will also affect replication rates hypotonic solutions accelerate, lee et al 2009 elseivier, Hypertonic--who knows!

    Key message the methodology in a trial is SO important----there are so many variables known and unknown in this field
