    Hello all,

This is a cross post from the B-12 - The Hidden Story thread.

Can anyone tell me how important it is to start the protocol (quoted below, posted by @Gloria H on P141 of this thread) in the order it is listed?

Are the doses listed the starting doses or the doses we are aiming to build up to?
If they are the starting doses, what are we aiming to build up to?
If they are the final doses, what do we start off at?

The reason I ask is that I am currently on 5mg of Methyl B12 and have been for a couple of years (not that I have noticed any difference from it). Do I stop the Methyl B12 I am currently on and start over in the order listed below?

A was also taking Acetyl L-carnitine (alcar) but I stopped that about 5 days ago as I suspected it was interfering with my levothyroxine absorption. I do feel a bit better but am not sure if it because of stopping the alcar or not. What are the chances of the L-carnitine fumarate interfering with my levothyroxine? Does taking it in conjunction with the other methylation supplements prevent this from happening?

I would appreciate your thoughts on this @Freddd

    Thanks

    Myrtle

I think it's a good idea to have a base of electrolytes and minerals going first. A much easier way to get potassium, rather than taking 99 mg capsules (which is like 3% of your daily value), is to have coconut water on hand.

Speaking from experience, I was not able to tolerate methylation supplements without first working on my gut, diet, and the BHMT pathway first.

So things I'd suggest starting with:

    Electrolytes http://www.bodybio.com/storeproduct348.aspx
    Trace Minerals
Getting vitamins from a well balanced diet. (Typically most beneficial is a paleo diet: Low Carbs, No grains, High Fat, High Protein) Not fortified foods. Raw vegetables, lots of greens, meats, nuts, etc.
    Phosphatidylcholine
    Inositol

But to be more specific to your question, B12 should come before L-Methylfolate to avoid methyl trapping. The Carnitine can come in at any time, and you should already be taking electrolytes.

Always easiest and safest to start low and go slow.

    @Soundthealarm21,
Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated.

Does anyone know if I should reduce my methyl B12 to 1mg before starting the protocol? as that seems to be the standard recommended dose.

    Thanks
