Low energy is one of the prime symptoms of both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome, and a lot of different things can sap our energy.

We do have some insight into why we lack energy -- research points to low ATP (adenosine triphosphate) in both conditions. ATP is a substance in cells that is the major source of energy for cellular function and metabolic processes. It's produced by mitochondria, the smallest building blocks of cells, and some researchers believe we have mitochondrial dysfunction.
