Looking Ahead to Change: Little by Little
I don't make New Year's Resolutions. I don't think I ever really did, but the last decade or two would have been enough to stifle that impulse. I've just been too aware that I don't have that much control over what happens in my life.

This was posted by @Yogi in a tweet in another thread (thanks!). I thought it deserved it's own thread.

David Tuller has described the PACE trial as a "piece of crap". Simon Wessely described it as "a thing of beauty".

So who do you agree with?

Was the PACE trial a "piece of crap" or "thing of beauty"?

    Cast your vote here:
    http://riches2b.atspace.cc/#poll

While you're there, check out the website too, it's utterly brilliant. And if you agree, share widely

[Edited to add further background/explanation to poll]

Well I've cast my vote, but please don't ask me how I voted because I'm not saying.

If you were a fly you might be inclined to agree with both?

Can we vote both ways? Its a beautiful example of a pile of crap.

After all, a pile of crap is a thing.

This study will be an exemplar in courses on how to not do research.

Currently 659 crap, 2 beauty. Hey, isn't that more than the patients in the actual trial?

I would love to see how the patients in the study would vote on this.

    :p

Let's hope that no flies have learned to cast votes in polls. We certainly don't want them biasing the results of this most important poll.

Now at 719 for crap, still 2 for beauty. I wonder who the 2 votes for beauty were from. Anyone prepared to come out and admit to voting for beauty?

Me too. If there are any PACE trial participants out there who are willing to share their vote, please do let us know...

    Yes it is!

It would be nice to be engaging in the intellectual and thoughtful debate going on in some of the other threads. But unfortunately my very sick and tired brain means that I can only manage silly poo humour at the moment! :ill:

Of course the psychs will just innocently tweak the 'winning' criteria to also include losing and declare victory.

I don't know. This is @TiredSam we're talking about and three people did vote for Thing of Beauty. Maybe it was him.:cautious:
