Can You Come for a Visit? My ME/CFS Says No
My daughter and son-in-law just had a baby last week. We are thrilled. But we won't be able to see the baby or hold her any time soon. We won't be able to take over little gifts or help out with housework or babysitting.

I had them taken by a CFS specialist in august. These are the abnormalities he found. I take 1 gram of Valtrex a day and have been for about 3 months and have not had a EBV type crash so far. I have had on average 3-4 of those a year for the past 10ish years. There is a distinct difference between my normal CFS symptoms and the EBV popping up to say hello.

    In my CBC

    MID# is 2.1 range 0.0-1.8
    MID% is 26.5 range 0.1-24.0
    GRAN% is 30.5 range 37.0-92.0

    EBV
    VCA IgM 26 range 0-20
    EBV-EA 24 range 0-20

    M pneumoniae IgG Abs 718 Positive >320
(M pneumoniae IgM Abs is Negative)

    HHV6
    IgM <1:10
IgG Antibodies 3.39 High Positive >1.10

Other than that and embarrassingly high triglycerides, thats it. Any and all thoughts welcome.

R you saying that your cfs and an active ebv attack are completely different ? That there is something else causing your cfs ?

Im not sure i understand either, but your ebv titres are still high so maybe only getting partial results with valtrex, maybe need to up the dose abit more to maybe 2 grams. Others have done ok on 1-2 grams and i have done well on a low dose of famvi,r in comparison to what dr lerner uses on his patients, so there can be a big dosage margin. If im reading your results correctly are u positive to mycoplasma and hhv6, if so u need antibiotics and valcyte or famvir as some have had hhv6 titres come down with famvir. SO u have a few things going on to try and chase after.

    cheers!!!

What I mean is that I feel like I have had active mono on top of CFS symptoms at times and other times I do not. To me, those are the abyss that people talk about. I have a baseline feeling and throughout the years I have experienced the same symptoms leading up to a mono-like crash. I'll have a sinus infection or a cold, then a small little cough that lasts for a week or two and thats when I know that I will soon crash very very hard. It takes weeks to get back to baseline from those type crashes. They occured probabaly 3-4 times a year and typically around stress or overworking physically or mentally. Since taking Valtrex I have not had a crash like that.

Heaps- that bloodwork was before I started Valtrex. I haven't had blood work since but am looking forward to it. I talked to my GP about the mycoplasma and he stated that those are showing that I have HAD that bacteria before and that the bloodwork is showing that I do not have an active infection. But along those lines, how long would I have to have antibiotics for? I get sinus infections multiple times per year and go on the normal 10 day biaxin approach.

Famvir is safer than Valcyte correct? Is it effective against both HHV6 and EBV?

Famvir isnt formerly used for ebv, hhv6 and cmv but others as well as me have used it with titre values being lowered from famvir and yes it is safer then valcyte and alot cheaper. Maybe these infection are reactivating making u feel worse but cfs in general is very up and down, we can feel better and tend to do abit more and then this makes us crash and the cycle go's on, sometimes it happens for no reason. Google more about mycoplasma and cfs u will find alot of info as well, they say testing for this isnt accurate either and sometimes a long trial of antibiotics is used eg doxycyline for 6 months plus etc http://www.immed.org/

    cheers!!!
