While many people may have been diagnosed with depression or anxiety by a doctor, this is often because the doctor thinks the symptoms of CFS are those of depression or anxiety.

It would be useful to know if people felt it was an accurate diagnosis.

I was reading a post by Gerwyn and it brought together (if I remember correctly) XMRV, the amygdala, anxiety, and depression. I was just trying to find it but I have limited time. It was quite interesting and I think Gerwyn and Kurt were going back and forth on some of it. Can't find the thread right now but if I do, I edit this post with the link.

Is anyone going to be playing with the formatting of these questions? I see opportunities where certain questions/conditions could be presented or grouped better.

Is it at all possible to be comprehensive about all the possible co-morbidities? I think open ended questions would be better as the list here makes assumptions about possible associations. eg What illnesses have you had? What surgery have you had? What illnesses has your family had?

It's also difficult to answer some questions, eg diagnoses by a doctor. I was misdiagnosed with lupus so i would be reluctant to put that down. On the other hand, I know that i've suffered night sweats but I haven't had a diagnosis of it.

I think the best way is to list the various common comorbidities and known associations, and then ask if physician diagnosed or self-diagnosed. No doctor has ever bothered to tell me I have PMS for example, but I know I do. Also, it would be relevant to know which ones predate CFS.

Then, after the list of common co-morbidities, two questions could be added: 1) Do you have another condition or conditions not listed above? Please list: 2) Have you ever been mis-diagnosed with another condition?

There is one rare CFS co-morphid condition which it would be doubtful to get a doctors diagnoses for. That being Morgellons. Its been found that many with Morgellons actually have CFS with it, there is a strong association with CFS in ones with it (it also has an association with lyme disease). When i was hanging about the Morgellon's sites, there was many with CFS there with this even stranger condition. (Morgellon's is one of the rarer things ive had with the CFIDS). Ive suggested Insulin resistance as there is a subgroup of CFSers who have metabolic-X with it and hence have this issue. Also suggested frozen shoulder be put in as I seem to currently have that injury and on chatting on main board it seems many here have it too.. frozen shoulder is said to have an autoimmune component to that developing. (Many said frozen shoulders are connected with FM but right now i dont have any FM at all..havent had it for a while, thou i have done so in the past).

I've heard of CFS with Morgellon's. Thanks JT - I don't know what's changed but it does look better
