Last Wednesday we shared with you and other Link subscribers a special opportunity to "Triple Your Impact" through a challenge grant issued by the McGrath Family Foundation. They offered to match $2 for every $1 donated online, up to a maximum of $10,000 to raise a total of $30,000.

Within the first six days, your gifts helped us meet their (original) $10,000 challenge goal! They were so excited about your response that the Foundation has doubled its pledge! So we've secured their initial $20,000 pledge and now have the opportunity to receive another $20,000 with your support of online donations totaling $10,000. The challenge period ends on Dec. 7, 2011. You can make a secure donation online at http://bit.ly/2011fund. Thank you for your support!

Wow!! How exciting - thanks for letting us know, I'm going to make a donation right now. Anybody know about the McGrath Family Foundation (Kim McCleary said that it is not the one in Australia)? I wonder if they have a personal link to CFS?

Update!! FIRST-TIME GIFT CHALLENGE

Contents of an email:

This season is full of countdowns, and we are ticking down one that you can help with. We've got just four more days to secure Dr. Lee Meisel's bonus pledge of $10,000 for research!

Can you help us attract 40 donations from first-time donors before Sunday at midnight?

Catalyst Fund donor Lee Meisel, MD, JD, MPH, has issued a challenge to help inspire first-time gifts in support of the Association. He will make a $10,000 "bonus" donation if we can attract 100 gifts (of any size) from new donors in the 10-day period between Dec. 9 and Dec. 18.

Please help us secure Dr. Meisel's bonus donation!

As a CFIDSLink subscriber, you receive regular monthly updates about the latest research studies, policy updates, media coverage and event news from across the CFS community. We share breaking news in "Link Extra" reports. This information service is provided free-of-charge to anyone who requests it.

Our flagship is our transformative research program, described in a recent series of articles posted to our new Research1st website/blog and shared through CFIDSLink. Catch up here: http://www.research1st.com/2011/11/28/accelerate/

If you value our research program and/or the information you receive from us, please take a moment now to express your support and make sure both continue in the new year. If you've never made a gift before, now is the time! Your first-time gift will help us secure the $10,000 pledge made by Dr. Meisel.

Our secure online donation page is available 24/7 at http://bit.ly/2011fund. You can also call our office at 704-365-2343. If no one is available to take your call, please leave a message with contact information and someone will return your call on the next business day. You can also mail a check to PO Box 220398, Charlotte, NC 28222-0398. If you'll let us know it's on the way with an email to cfids@cfids.org, we'll make sure it counts as one of the gifts made to secure the $10,000 bonus.

If you're already an Association supporter, please share this opportunity with family and friends who may consider making a gift in your honor. We'll gratefully acknowledge both of you! Donor and honoree will join our family of Catalysts and will receive special updates and invitations to live and web events throughout the coming year. (Even though it won't count toward this particular challenge, we'd love to receive another donation from you as well!) You can forward this message or send this link: http://www.research1st.com/2011/12/09/1st-time/

To help track progress toward 100 First-Time Gifts, we've added a new check box to our on-line donation form. We will also double-check every donation received by mail, phone and online as they're received and we'll regularly update the tally on Research1st and Facebook. The 10-day period began on Dec. 9 and ends on Dec. 18, so time is ticking down. Thank you for your support and for encouraging others to support The Catalyst Fund!

(I realize that lots of people on this site do not like CAA, but I think they help get some good research done, and it wouldn't take much money!)
