I'm looking for a specialist for Fibromyalgia, any location will do(skype). I have some GI issues that I haven't been able to clear up on my own and I'm done screwing around with it on my own. Thanks.

If you are comfortable giving your location, people near you might have some good recommendations.

Best,

Hi Sushi, well, I didn't want location to be a constraining factor. I'd rather find someone highly regarded and recommended by the community irregardless of location.

I live in Orange County, CA.

I guess the country would be the main question as not many would be willing or able to travel to another country. (I am one of the crazy ones who do! )

Junto- Dr. Chia in Torrance Calif is supposed to be very good. Several people on Health Rising website have been to him and have been pleased. I haven't seen him/.

You have a lot to chose from on the West Coast.

First, I want to differentiate between fibro and CFS. The doctors are not usually interchangeable. With that in mind, for fibro, I have heard good things about:

Stuart L Silverman MD
8641 Wilshire Blvd Suite 301
Beverly Hills, CA 90211
(310) 358-2234 (Office)

He specializes in fibro.

I just started seeing Dr. Silverman in Beverly Hills. He used to run Cedars-Sinai's Fibromyalgia center and teaches at UCLA. I've only had one appointment so far but I was very impressed. He was extremely knowledgeable about the issues that come along with fibro such as adrenal issues, depression, IBS, etc. He understood that many fibro people can't take normal doses of meds and said he tends to use vitamins and amino acids - precursors - with his fibro people. My only concern would be that he doesn't treat EBV, HHV6, or CMV. He says everyone over 30 will test with high titers and therefore the lab results don't mean anything. I guess if he fixes my immune system, the immune system will take care of the viruses. I drive (well, have to be driven) an hour each way to see him and feel it will be worth it. BEST OF ALL, he takes insurance!

Diana- Sounds good to me. I started about a month ago on a new Probiotic by Jarrow. As I had serious GI problems. It is called SACCHAROMYCES BOULARDII+mos You can order from Vistacost vitamins on line. I am moving on from my Dr. I have now. I was misdaignosed on 2 different issues . I agree with the Dr. you are seeing about the testing.
Please keep me informed as to how you do. Alot of the things the CFIDS are recommending are standard as ONE SIZE FITS ALL. The fact that he takes insurance speaks volumes!!!!!!!

Best of luck to you.
