Could we make a simple list of the different prebiotics and which bugs they feed. I'm confused and find that 71 page resistant starch thread daunting. 1. LARCH ARABINOGALACTAN - there are 2 slightly different versions available at Swansons (here) Which is better? Would it best to get the powder or capsules if trying the "FiberAid" version? - which bacteria/probiotics does this feed? - do you need to have other nutrients to make it work ? (eg. if you are low in vit x, it won't work) 2. UNMODIFIED POTATO STARCH - Bob's Red Mill Unmodified is a good brand - what does it feed? (no need for lots of details, resistant starch thread has those) - are other nutrients needed for it to work? 3. FRUCTOLIGOSACCHARIDES (FOS) - which brands are good? - what do they feed? - other nutrients required? - I think I read something about certain patients should not take this. Who and why? 4. GREEN BANANAS/PLANTAIN - same questions as above If I there are some I haven't listed please add.
