ME/CFS: A disease at war with itself
We can all agree that ME/CFS is a nasty disease, particularly in its severe form, but there are abundant nasty diseases in the world. What is unique and particularly confounding about our disease is that so much controversy surrounds it, and not only surrounds it, but invades it too.

Actually, spindrift, the Inflatable Mega-Boobs in Kim's video are sexier than the g-suit. Pretty much everything is sexier than the g-suit...

    Dr. Yes,

I forgive you for your false fetish beliefs for your eyes have not had the pleasure of
    seeing a g-suit on me.

I'm kind of excited to see the reaction I get wearing my g-suit around town. i live in berkeley where the standard of fashion is very different from most other places....i think i'm going to rock that g-suit and start a new fashion trend for the soccer/baseball mom's in my town....

FYI dr. yes....this subgroup of moms are not only a political powerhouse, but we are also considered very HOT....cruising around town with kids, snacks and lawn chairs (and soon g-suits)!!!!

can't wait to see who grabs my tail...altho i can have my son hold onto it when my hands are full and we are crossing a busy street...third arm.:innocent1::rolleyes:

Of that I have no doubt, dear Lisa.

I have always felt that women should have tails.

I do think, however, that the g-suit would be sexier if it were made with rich, Cor-in-thian leather.

That's really amazing! Over the years I've done some crazy stuff in order to be out and about...I say whatever works! Never tried that, though.

I saw someone mention using a wetsuit and thought of this article someone sent me last year about a boy with ataxia who uses a wetsuit to stay up right (to keep from falling). I myself have ataxia and have often wondered what it would be like to try one out.

Don't know if I did the link correctly but it's an interesting read, and the boy was only three years old.

    Sporting my g-suit

So I have been walking around in my g-suit for several days now and I can only say
that I don't want to take it off anymore. I have been able to do so much and really
have to take care not to over do it. Besides being able to tolerate being upright, my
brain and even my vision improve when I wear it. I have also been sleeping better
but I am not sure if that is related.

The g-suit has definitely given me a big piece of the world back.

I only take it off to shower and when I sleep. While in the shower I have been doing
what Sushi recommended tightening and releasing thigh, buttock and abs. What a great
help. Works almost as well as the g-suit, but I can't do it for too long. Thanks for the
great advice, Sushi!!! I will work on core strengthening exercises.

I am now tempted to try the wet suit like Sushi suggested. I have a pool in the back
and a surf beach close by. Would be the perfect alternative to the g-suit when I want
    to hit the water.

Eurgh, have tried out my new compression tights today and no benefit (I've moaned in some detail on the compression garments thread, item #30). Bummer. Think I'm going to order a g-suit from the US (no clue how to get one in the UK). Does anyone have a view on the various suppliers?

I'm supposed to wear a suit to my sister's wedding. I'll be in a damn wheelchair - does the type of suit really matter?? :Retro mad: Suits are expensive, even if a relative is buying.

    How much is a g-suit?

Should I wear one of those to the wedding instead?

Here's a list of places that sell g-suits. I got mine from flighthelmet.com for $75 including shipping, but I'm in the US.

Mine was well used and a bit mildewy. Had to run it through the gentle cycle on the washer a couple of times to get the smell out. I think it's also kind of the luck of the draw on how long a particular suit will hold air. Apparently the military discards them when they start to leak, and I assume that some leaks are worse than others. I have to blow mine up about every 10 minutes when I'm up and about, but it's not hard too do.

Yes, Dr. Yes. A g-suit is appropriate attire for a wedding, especially a sister's wedding. You will be the most stylish one there. The helmet would add extra pizzaz to the occasion. Just make sure you also wear a boutonniere. I think you'll be set. Please post photos.

    G- Whizz

I can't go out strutting my Tail without someone beating me to the punch ;)

    Dr. Yes,

I agree with everything Gracenote says in her post. I would just like to ad for
a special occasion of this nature, you should probably wear the g-suit over
a g-string in a simplistic fashion with no other layers in between.

If you meet that 'special lady' at the wedding look her deeply into the eyes
and whisper " I am a specialist in all things starting with 'g-'. "
You might want to refresh your memory here before you go as to make

    Sacha,

I am sorry to hear about your problems with the compression tights. Can you return them?

As for the g-siuts, I think it would be a good idea to call suppliers here in the US and ask them
if they ship to the UK and also if you can return the g-suit if it does not work. You don't want
    to waste any more money.

If you do get a g-suit please let us know how it compares to the compression tights. It would
    really be interesting to know.

A little note on the side: I have found that the g-suit works best over tight stretch jeans, unless
of course you are Dr. Yes and attending your sister's wedding. :D

    Lisag,

Honestly I was mischievously looking forward to all the funny situations the g-suit would bring up, but no!
I live in a little surf town just south of San Francisco and everyone here runs around with some sort
of extreme sports gear. My g-suit blends right in. The only question I got was, " Do you parachute ?"

You can find some appropriate one liner's on this thread for almost any occasion:

Let me know if strutting your Tail is more fun in Berkeley, it's only a short drive from here. :D

Brilliant line, spindrift. May I use it to seduce women?

No fear my dear, my memory is clear. It's just like riding a bike. (In a really narrow tunnel.) (Blindfolded.)

Thanks, Spindrift - I'll ask my doctor whether they can be returned. They were provided as a prescription on the NHS so fortunately for me I only had to pay 14 (sorry, taxpayers! sorry!).

I had a look at g-suits on the US sites - I'm amazed they're so cheap (though by the time I've shipped one over here maybe it won't be!).

I just bought a pair I found for sale online cheap plus shipping. No chance they are going to fit but I want to see what they look like in person (how they work) and what size may actually fit me before I order...or hope to find....something close to my real size.
