Hi all, I have the opportunity to do labs at cost (thus only tests available through non-specialty labs) and I wonder what I should ask my new doc (not an ME specilialist) to run? Are Organic acids/Amino acids/cortisol something that is done through labs like Quest or what have you? What other tests should I ask for? NK cell function? I'm drawing a blank. Suggestions most welcome.
Yes, Quest does those tests. Can you get the Quest tests done? They have a huge list of all their tests on their website. You can browse by category or name or do a search. I searched on fatigue because I had to put something. http://www.questdiagnostics.com/tes...xt=fatigue&ig_index=1&ig_range=10&curr_page=1
Here's my list of basic initial testing...you could check against Quest or Labcorp's testing menu. I've heard good things about the saliva cortisol panel at Labcorp though have not used it myself. I would not bother with Lyme testing other than with IgeneX or Neuroscience. You could certainly also add NK cell function or CD4/8 testing on as well. My Dr did the organic acid testing (OATs) but used Great Plains Lab, he uses the other labs you mentioned, not sure why he did the OATs testing at GPL. GG
GPL does certain things more carefully than other labs. CDSA is another thing that's useful to send there rather than other labs (other labs may miss obvious infections, according to my doctors)
Hey leela--what conclusions have you come to about which lab tests to do? I am trying to pick out a few myself. I've spent so much money in the past, with few significant results, so I want to pick the cream of crop this time. Anyone else here who has an idea about the TOP TEN tests, please chirp in as well.
