I didnt have the energy to read the rest of the posts in the thread but I have been watching way too much Tv for years now and was a binge watcher before Netflix was even a thing. for me the longer the series the better. here are my suggestions
I tried to share ones i thought you might not of heard of before.

-Stargate SG1 and Atlantis only watch universe if you really like the other series its the worst one by far.
    - Star trek enterprise (best series for non Trekkie imo)
-newer Battle star galactica (from the 2000's)
    - Doctor who (2005 reboot) season 1-10 (my favorite show)

    - Sliders - its a great campy show with wacky yet easy to follow stories. last season is the worst one. perfect for having in background while you zone out or multitask.

    Futurama (another Favorite) (favorite comedy)
    Warehouse 13
    Eureka!
    Primeval
Broad city (explicit wacky stoner humor)
    Atypical
    Portlandia

    Obvious ones from recent years
    Game of thrones
    Mr.Robot
    house of cards
    The walking dead

The deuce : pretty good after 2 episodes. Great potential. Old school/HBO kind of series : Very slow place, many histories.

''A look at life in New York City during the 1970s and '80s when porn and prostitution were rampant in Manhattan.''

Stranger things seems promising (a netflix series). Great music and the 80´s feel is great.
Preacher is a weird serie I like (not for everyone though). I read the comics a while ago.
I also like the comedy serie Glow.

I liked Stranger Things, too. I'll never think of The Clash's Should I Stay or Should I Go in the same way.

    The other side.
    I'm not sure if these have been mentioned but;

Glitch (Aussie back from the dead show)
Emerald City (Bizarre take on wizard of oz)
    Dollhouse (oldie but goodie)
Fringe (Peculiar but okay sci fi)
Dead Like Me (erm.....okay if you like lots of post-its)
How I met Your Mother (US bar/lifestyle comedy)
    Misfits (UK teen comedy)
    Wayward Pines (erm....)
Braindead (US political comedy with brain eating plants)
Ash vs Evil dead (US, what happened to Ash 20 years after the evil dead movies - comedy, probably)
Legion (erm...comedy? largely about the antics of psychic mad people and a brain infesting alien thingie)

That's several I haven't noticed being posted about that I found entertaining.

Meh, it's not illegal. In fact, we pay a tax for it every time we buy something which can store data. That's about as legal as it gets :D

I just watched Alias Grace, which is a miniseries based on a Margaret Atwood novel of the same name. I've never read the book but the miniseries was really good. Its dark but a very interesting story. I watched all 6 episodes in one sitting :D

TW: physical violence against women, emotional abuse, death, some gore. There are also very small clips (3-5 seconds long) that portray rape.

I'm not much for dark shows (AHS is waaay out of the question for me) but I didn't really know what I was getting into with this one and I ended up okay.
