She'd had ME/CFS since 1984, and was first diagnosed with cancer in 1998. The cancer killed her last month.

She was an actress, most memorably (in my opinion!) in the older La Femme Nikita series.

She was also a member of this forum, Alice1, starting in 2009. She was pretty active here for several years, though hadn't been around since 2012.

    She'll be missed.

    Such sad news.

I corresponded with her a few years ago. We got sick around the same time.
I knew she'd been diagnosed with lymphoma...

Sincere condolences to her husband, family and friends.

    Rest in peace Alberta.

I've been wondering about her recently and I'm very sorry to hear this. She was a pleasure to have as a member here.

Always sad to lose a fellow sufferer too early. She had quite a career. One of those hard working actors who puts the work in year after year, without all the limelight. All while carrying the burden of ME/CFS. Much respect.

Strange, I was thinking of her earlier today. I am really sad about this. I knew her only through messages back and forth, but she was very down-to-earth and gentle. I can't imagine how she managed to stand there under the lights for long periods while filming, take after take.

IMO her best work was on L&O, especially an episode in season 2 or 3 in which she played Claire Danes' mother.

My condolences to her family. Her life was too short.

I read about Alberta Watson passing away last week. I didn't realize that she had had CFS and was a member of this group. I remember watching her on Nikita each week. RIP

This is sad news. I remember her but don't know how old she was. Is this allowed to be asked?

we talked on the phone once when i was at my limit...i couldnt stand the suffering and was crying profusely. i didnt know her that well but she was so kind to me. she even offered to pay for a naturopath for me (i didnt feel right taking her up on her offer). she was such a genuine person....she even made a promise to me which i wont get into here...but it was something i needed to hear. i was about to take my life and i will never forget that conversation. she didn't judge me...just listened. just such a wonderful person.

I, too, talked on the phone with her and emailed with her over the last few years, but not the last year. She was so very positive all the time and so very kind. She helped me get some supplements from Canada to the USA. She was a lovely person. My heart goes out to her husband and family.
