    I have been reading on this forum and everyone says different things. what i have been reading is are you supposed to take folic acid, niacin and b12? is this true and what doses?

    So how do you treat Histapenia (overmethylation)?

    Your question is too general.

    You might want to tell us a bit more about why you have been taking and why. And then why you want to focus on overmethylation.

    @farshad

    Exactly what symptoms are you trying to treat? The term "overmethylation" does not mean exactly the same thing to different people.

    What doses? What forms? Why only those three? What symptoms were you trying to treat? What has happened to make you think you are overmethylating?

    @farshad, welcome to PR.

    Ben Lynch recommends niacin, taken as nicotinic acid, among other things:

    I don't know if folinic acid treats overmethylation

    This product is methylcobalamin, which is the most popular form of B12, but it is not the type of B12 that will treat overmethylation - see below:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Veganicity-...1&keywords=b12

    The type of B12 you want for overmethylation is hydroxycobalamin:
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Liposomal-Hydroxy-Hydroxocobalamin-Vitamin-Vegan/dp/B01DW1A93Q/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=drugstore&ie=UTF8&qid=1493582126&sr=1-1&keywords=hydroxycobalamin b12
    or
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/ProHealth-Hydroxocobalamin-ExtremeTM-sublingual-tablets/dp/B002SKV61M/ref=sr_1_3_s_it?s=drugstore&ie=UTF8&qid=1493582126&sr=1-3&keywords=hydroxycobalamin b12

    Niacin treats overmethylation - it is also known as nicotinic acid:

    Even just one of those, the niacin alone might work, but I'm not on expert on methylation. I don't think you need all of the products, but I think niacin (nicotinic acid) is the one you should definitely think of getting. Having 3 of the products on hand should cover you pretty well.

    The only difference I can see between the two B12's I provided was just the form - one is liquid and one is tablets.

    I'm not sure that overmethylation = too much serotonin.

    You say you have fatigue, depression and anxiety.

    Maybe read this thread by @Hip

    Starting down the methylation trail is challenging, and hip's approach might be easier for you to begin with.

    Overmethylation (Histapenia): Too much methyl (a carbon group with three hydrogen atoms). It is very active in the brain, and too much leads to “too much of a good thing.” This causes an overproduction of serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the brain. In many cases, high serotonin levels can cause psychological problems including reduced motivation, reduced libido, weight gain, and confusion.

    whats so hard to understand?

    It's complex. I understand the bits I need for my son, which are different bits to the bits you need. That article captures only a small bit.

    Have you had tests to show high histamine levels etc?

    Some people come to this forum having driven themselves into overmethylation by consuming too many supplements that drive the methylation cycles - for example, by taking too much methylfolate or something else that drives the cycle. That's why we're asking questions.

    Other people find they can pick symptoms off both lists in your linked articles. Those lists work for a few people, though, so be grateful if you are one of them.

    my overmethylation is genetics due to a MTHFR mutation. not because i took some medication its just how my body works. if you know something I don't I would appericate if you told me. My dad also has the same problems as me if that will further prove its genetics. You can belive me or not all I wanna know is how you treat this .
