    Hey Everyone! :)

A few days ago Jeremy and I made the long trek to see our doctor. Its about five hours round trip.

But it was well worth it! :D I'm just going to repost what I wrote about it on my blog, its much better written than what I would be able to do this morning. :)

I'm pretty darned excited about it all. Can hardly wait for the b12 to get here late this next week. lol I has made such a huge difference for both of us these last few days, can totally feel the level lowering as days pass.

Anyways - had to share cause its the first real answers that have a chance to make us feel a lot better. :D

    Enjoy!

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

    Back from the Wizard

I have been taking a couple days to recuperate from the lengthy trip to see our doctor last Thursday. It was a very exciting day and also very exhausting because of all the excitement.

Timing in life really is very interesting to me. Here I am traveling most of Thursday, spending about an hour and a half at the doctors office and then traveling home. Meanwhile out in the world, a wildfire is spreading of information about a new connection between the retrovirus XMRV and CFS. It is all very interesting research on the retrovirus and wonderful that someone might have some answers for millions of us soon.

But closer to home, I have some answers of my own that I also received on Thursday. All those tests showed some important things for us. Once again, Jeremy and I had almost mirrored test results with only a one major difference and one minor difference. What is the most interesting to me is that for every test where we did have mirrored results, his were always a little worse than mine.

We both tested low for thyroid, Vitamin D, Selenium, and our respective hormones (progesterone/testosterone). These will all be supplemented; most we have already begun to work on as of today. Together well be taking enzymes at main meals to help digest our food because our bodies are unable to produce enough enzymes on their own. We will also be giving each other vitamin b12 shots (hydroxocobalamin) a couple times a week here at home.

Where we differed majorly is he has a moderately severe Candida infection and will be on an antifungal for a few months, while I luckily do not have one. The minor difference was in each of us needing more of one type of antioxidant that the other was fine on.

While at the doctors office, we were shown how to do the b12 injections on each other by the nurse giving us an injection right then and there.

I have to say that injection felt like a little bit of heaven once it started getting into me. About an hour after having it, soon enough that my butt still felt sore, suddenly I noticed that I felt good. Really good.

I felt better than I can remember having felt since this dark cloud of illness descended upon me eight years ago.

Jeremy also felt the same. We will be receiving our own supply of this miracle vitamin sometime next week. I know the wondrous sensation of health and wholeness I experienced the first time will likely not ever occur like that again, but it does give a tremendous amount of hope that this may be one of piece of the puzzle that has been missing for so very long.

With all the promise the trip to the doctor held, I cant help but feel that promise was well met. To finally have solutions to some of the health issues plaguing us, it will be a very interesting next few months while each thing is slowly being righted after years of neglect and damage. Perhaps there will be XMRV answers and treatments by the time these current marvels of mine have run their course and I am in need of a new pair of ruby slippers to get me the rest of the way back home.

    That's great Lisa...

I'm glad to hear you got some answers from Dr. B!

Pretty hard to get vitamin D naturally up in our neck of the woods isn't it! Especially this time of year. Which again makes me wonder how you two can possibly stay warm in your hut. I'm almost shivering here, inside an apartment. Almost... :)

So if you were there on Thursday, I was wondering if he had any reaction to the news about the retrovirus found by the Whittmore (WPI) researchers?

    Woo Hoo!

I so happy you have found something that works. We give my son this injections every three days and I have noticed a big difference in him. I have thought for some time that I would like to try them but can't bring myself to add another needle to my weekly treatment. My grandmother has always told me that a vitamin B injection saved my dads life.

Please keep us informed on your improvement.

    Take care,

    Wow, Lisa, that's fantastic!!!

I'm thrilled for you! Long may it last.

I echo Danny's concerns re you guys and the coming winter. I don't think you can have too much good news too fast!

Holding a good thought a shot in the bum!

Thanks for the replies guys! :D

    Dan,

Love Dr. Buscher. Such a great man! But I would swear he's much shorter than I remember him. lol It struck me when I saw him after our b12 shot - maybe I was just unknowingly standing up straighter for once, but he seemed like such a small guy suddenly. :)

It has been pretty chilly here lately too. The maples still have most of their leaves so the tree canopy above us is very thick and blocks most of the heat from the sun right now. We manage to stay warm with canning jars filled with hot water off our water heater/shower faucet. Get enough of them in bed with you and it is easy to be snug even on a very cold day... so long as we have power.

    Dainty,

    Thanks! :D

    Frickly,

What other injections are you having to take? :) You said every three days for your son, that's what we were thinking of doing. The doc said 1-2x's a week but it would be easier to remember it if there was a normal schedule, like every three days. Oddly, I think the prescription said 2-3x's a week so I might need to call and get that clarified.

    Koan,

Long may it last... I couldn't agree more. :D A shot in the bum is a small price to pay for the gains it will bring. :)

Thank you everyone for all your awesome comments. :D

    Wow, Lisa,

    what an exciting breakthrough.

I am really thrilled for you & Jeremy, to be getting such a positive outcome.
Makes that 5 hour, very lengthy & tedious road trip well worth while.

Keep us informed how you go with the B12 Injections.

Like you say, you may not get such a "high" from each subsequent injection, but it must have been exciting to feel that good after the initial one.

    Lisa,

I only take one shot per week (glutithione/ATP) but it is very painful. It's not the short needle like in the b shot and sting very bad. I also take several other supplements that when combined with my son's and husbands supplements adds up quickly. My son's doc recommended 3x per week but I have heard that it can be done even more often if needed. I do hope your improvement will continue.:D

    B12 Shot

That's great news that you felt some relief with the B12 shots!

I bet starting on hormones will help also..

It sounds like you have a really good doctor on board.

    Hi Vicki! :D

I'm all kinds of excited about this stuff. :D hehehe Early tomorrow I need to call and get my prescription transferred to the cheaper pharmacy... I really don't envy them because I'm sure I'll be that annoying customer who is impatient to get their order made up and shipped. :D

I'll make sure to keep things posted once we start seeing some changes. :)

    Hello again Frickly! :D

I know exactly what you mean about costs very quickly adding up. Really wish insurance would cover this stuff but I've already asked and they play dumb like they've never heard of b12.

    Terri!!

We've got a great doctor, but his hands have been tied for the last five years because of our lack of money. Feels darned good to finally have been able to jump on board with doing everything he has suggested. :D

btw, you got the cool smiley cause you're just that sort of person. :D hehehe

HUGS TO ALL THREE OF YOU WONDERFUL WOMEN!!

Isn't it fantastic that this doctor of yours is actually helping, it gives us all hope.
I'll be praying that you'll make HUGE gains on this treatment plan.

    Lisa B12 party

    Dang, I'm late!

So very glad to hear your news. This should make a long-lasting difference.

Also, the hormones. They make such a change in quality-of-life for me. Sounds like the B12 does too.

So glad you are home, hoping it is warm and sunny tomorrow and you don't have to carry your water bottles to bed.

My best to the squirrels, etc., and to you guys!

    Kelly,

You're right, this is a good excuse (er, reason:rolleyes:) for a party. :D

You could bring in some of your sqyams for Lisa and Jeremy to try. Nice autumnish dish for this time of year.

And I could jump on a plane (or two) & bring some witchetty grubs.

(& I know none of you has any idea what I'm talking about - do a search on Australian Aboriginal bush tucker & you'll see what I mean).

& Lisa, what do you cook on? Have to find some recipes for you to try also.

Wow, so happy for you. I also take the shots. Have for years, so, I do at times forget to take them the week that I am supposed to, and yes, feel a difference. I give the shots in the top of my legs mostly, because I have numbness there. Sometimes the hip. I was taught how to give shots with an orange. :) And, at first my hubby would give them to me in my hip area, but I can do that now.
I also take the D..did your doc suggest D3? That's what I take and it's great for the immune system. Wow, you found out a lot between the two of you..way to go. Hoping that once you get "all" of these vitamins into your system you will feel even better! Let us know how the enzymes work for you two. Always excited to hear good news from those that just got back from a drs. appt. :) Here's hoping you enjoy those ruby slippers for a very long time!:p

    Wowzers! :D

I go off to watch a movie for a while and come back to find a party! :D

    Hello, hello! :)

Snez, Thanks for the well wishes and the gently ecstatic hugs. hehe I totally dig hugs! :D

    Kelly,
You're not late - you brought the party! :D I'll make sure to pass on your greetings to the squirrels. They've actually started letting us sleep in till about 7:30! :D

Jody - what the heck are sqyams??? Squashyams? Square yams? I don't know but I bet we'd eat them. lol

    Vicki!
You can keep them grubs, I'm good on protein this lifetime. :D

We cook on a two burner hotplate. Its a good one, basically as good as any stove top. :)

    Hello Cynthia!

The nurse told us to make sure to do the shot in the bum even though the diagram she gave us shows the leg too. lol I think she was just looking to give me an excuse to see Jeremy's behind a couple times a week. :D She was one heck of a funny character! I have no idea who she is either, but she kept talking about how we knew her so we went along with it. :D

The doc said to take 10,000 IU of D3 every day. It was a bit of a shock to see my D levels, I had been out sunbathing mostly nude a couple hours a day for weeks before the test. This Washington sunshine doesn't seem to do the trick though. I kinda miss California sometimes...

I agree, I really like hearing about people getting back from doctor trips too. :)

hmm... HEY JODY! You got any leftovers from Thanksgiving that you could bring to this party? I'm not sure people are going to fill up on the witchetty grubs Vicki is bringing. :D

    HUGS! :D

    Lisa,

Kelly was talking on the Thanksgiving thread about a dish made with yams and acorn squash and mashing them together with butter, salt and pepper. It's called Sqyams.

And I can bring lots of leftovers from our dinner tonight.

Lessee, left over turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash, a veggie tray, some pumpkin pie with Cool Whip and pumpkin pudding with whipped cream.

That should go good with sqyams.

Maybe we can ditch the smear burgers this time. (Please????):p

All that sounds good Jody! :D Yup, even the sqyams... though if you put them in a square dish after mashing them together you'd also get the Square Yams. :D

I think we might need to keep smear burgers around for this party... in case some of Viciki's witchetty grubs still have some life left in them. We'll need something to bonk them with. :D

All this party has me tired already. That tryptophan was some crazy fast working stuff, you barely got here with the turkey and already I'm being put to sleep! You probably spiked it with some Canadian thingamajig that increased the potency of the turkey. :p

    Yawn!

    Lisa,

We Canadians are a potent group. And I guess that goes for our turkeys too. :)

Good idea using the smear burgers as weapons. Probably not the first time they've been used for this, since they originated in the Cort Johnson household.:p

    Great news, Lisa!

Hi Lisa - I'm afraid I missed the party, but I want to let you know how happy I am for both you and Jeremy. I can only imagine how you felt when the B12 injection gave you the sensation of feeling good for the first time in nine years! It must have been amazing just to remember what good feels like!

This is very exciting news and may be exactly the ruby slippers you need to find your way home again. Just tap your heels together three times and think to yourself, "There's no place like home. There's no place like home. There's no place like home."

I'm very excited for the both of you!

    Blessings,
    Finch
