The End ME/CFS Project: History Taking Root
The history books record that in the nineteenth century Louis Pasteur formulated a “germ theory” of microbes as the causative agents of disease, and thus revolutionized medicine. His findings, along with his contemporary, John Snow (who linked cholera to infected water supply),...

I have been sick since 2010 and I was completely bedridden for the first 3 years. Over the last year I've made significant improvement to the point that I am able to leave my house for a short time almost every day. I believe this is largely due to a treatment I started last November when I was referred to Prof Bouic.

Prof Bouic, from the Department of Immunology at Stellenbosch University, is the Chief Scientific Officer at Synexa. He has done research into M.E and understands the host of changing symptoms that plague us. Synexa is a specialist diagnostic lab and therefore Prof Bouic gave me two tests that I was unable to get through any of my other specialists; a gut ecology test and an adrenal function test. My gut ecology was tested through a stool sample and showed that I have that I don't have the correct gut bacteria to aid digestion and absorption. My adrenal function was tested through a saliva sample collected at 8am and 8pm. This showed that I produce far too little cortisol during the day and far too much DHEA. Prof Bouic prescribed me a list of supplements and probiotics. One of the bacteria missing from my gut ecology was E.Coli, which is not available in any probiotics in South Africa therefore his lab manufactures it for me.

I still have a long way to go to get better but it is great to be treated by someone who understands how terrible this disease is.

I'm also in South Africa. How much are you paying for the e. Coli pbx? I've wanted to try it myself but as you say it's not available here.

I paid R2 000 for both of my tests, my consultation, and about a years supply of frozen e.Coli (I go and pick it up every 6 months). Prof Bouic won't prescribe you e.Coli without a test to show your gut ecology is lack it.

what kind of test of gut ecology it is? i also made genova CDSA and resulted taht E.Coli did not grow among the beneficial bacteria but CDSA is not so specific for gut ecology
