Yes. He also was relentlessly perplexed at the mishandling of how Lyme was researched and characterized. At one point, he was even diagnosed with the disease himself, but the diagnosis was purportedly "withdrawn" when the press caught wind of it.

He was indefatigable in his refusal to get in step with mainstream dogma. You couldn't help but like the man.
