Hi.. if you are in Queensland you are lucky as there is at least a couple of different doctors there who supports this (Ive been trying to get saline IV treatment for severe POTS for a long time now.. there is no one doing that in Sth Australia). There is quite a few ME people in Victoria who are using saline IV (i think they may be Dr Lewis's patients).

Im to the point where I need 2 carers to take me out every time I leave the house due to POTS collapses, yet I still cant get saline IV in SA (well I finally did find a dr but I cant get to him and he only gives saline treatments early one morning once per week which just isnt enough for this anyway and early mornings just arent good for ones with insomina).

Sarah (a ME patient in Queensland who gets saline IVs. I think she ended up even being allowed to have these at home if Im remembering correctly)... Her website is at http://www.sarahsworld.me/2012/03/nitty-gritty-on-saline-ivs-pots-me.html (she may also know of other drs there too doing this). Another of her pages on saline http;//www.sarahsworld.me/2012/07/speed-seting-and-frequency-does-matter.html

I dont really know if he prescribes saline for POTS/OI etc but his knowledge of cfs/me would make him one of the top docs on this illness in australia. He has a room out the back where nurses give IV vitamins etc etc

He is open to suggestions on what sort of testing and treatments you want to look into. He doesnt mind people taking charge of their own health, is the best way to describe it and assist you along the way but he will also tell you if something isnt worth persuing. Im unsure of the initial consult fee but further consult fees are $85 and $30 back on medicare. I really dont know the cost of IV's but a bag of saline is dirt cheap.

Have u had saline drips before and benefited from them??

Can i ask what suburb u live in?

cheers!!!

I've had them before I new it was PoTS and noone could figure out why I was benefiting so much for them.
I live in Biloela Queensland 800KMS from Brisbane so it would be a big trip to get there.

Is he a specialists?
My GP is open to suggestion from other doctors he doesn't have the facilities to do it in his own clinic. But will care for a PICC line or port and I have administered IVs and Gravity fed Nasogastric feeds and also cared for a supra pubic catheter. The gp will change the dressings and everything. I live in the middle of no where and have to travel to 4hrs to see my specialist who's never heard of saline and doesn't seem to know much about pots she just wants to treat the syncope

Hi Lynda, if your doc is willing to work with another doc then im sure dr deed would be happy to, i think he already does this with other docs/people. I think after an initial face to face consult once a year, you can then do phone consults or email consults?? Biloela is a bit of a trip to get an IV once a week. Dr Deed is not a specialist as such but has worked with Dr whiting who use to be the aussie guru dr for cfs/me and dr deed was also into cfs/me research in the 1990's and he has treated many people with cfs/me. There are no magic cures but then no doctor has. his knowledge, experience and 'empathy' make him one of the top doctors to see in my opinion as well as my experience in trying to find a doctor who could help me in any sort of meaningful way. Basically he is a good bloke and not up himself like many docs we encounter are. I hope u find him helpful to your situation.

cheers!!!
