AFME have put up a page with info on how to live stream the CMRC conference and a link to the full programme. There seems to be planned the announcement of 1 new MRC funded CFS/me project this year.

http://www.actionforme.org.uk/get-informed/news/our-news/action-for-me-to-livestream-cmrc-conference

My own feelings are there is lots of talk about the right things but no proper financial backing to set up fitting research strategy to make serious progress & it remains to be seen what the potential impact of the 1 new study will be.

As someone very severely ill i would have liked one segment to focus on the severe so we move away from fatigue and on to disability and impairment and also i would like to see a short showing of a powerful film about the severe, such as action for mes own 3 minute, just to give an appropriate understanding of the great need out in the community to the attendees, many of whom Will have never met the more severely ill.

@K22, I have dial up and don't want to load and read this. I will put it on the calendar if you will give me the date and a one-line description. "Live stream of CMRC conference" with CMRC spelled out would probably be an appropriate description.

Action for ME said:
CMRC conference to be livestreamed

8 October 2015

On behalf of the UK CFS/M.E. Research Collaborative (CMRC), Action for M.E. will livestream some of the 2015 CMRC’s annual research conference next Tuesday, 13 October and Wednesday, 14 October via Ustream. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/w9gF6Ps3Nkd

We’ll be broadcasting Plenary Session 2: Widening the Net, which runs from 4.30pm to 6.30pm on Tuesday and includes presentations from Dr Esther Crawley, Prof Fai Ng, Prof Carmine Pariante, Prof Anne McArdle, and Prof Julia Newton. We’ll also be livestreaming Prof Jo Nijs’ presentation on Wednesday, which runs from 9am to 9.45am, along with Prof Jim Horne’s presentation from 1.45pm to 2.30pm.

Unfortunately we cannot livestream every presentation that takes place over the two-day event, as several involve research findings that haven’t yet been published and so are not being delivered to the general public. Information on what times researchers will be speaking at and what research they’ll be discussing can be found in the full event timetable– we’ve highlighted the ones we can livestream in red to make it easier for you.

Watching a livestream of the event is easy – all you need to do is click on this link on the day. We’d suggest bookmarking or favouriting the page in advance so you can find it but don’t worry, we’ll be posting the link again on Tuesday for you.

Once you click on the link, you’ll be taken to the Ustream page where the event will be streamed to – just make sure your speakers are turned on so you can hear what’s being said. There’s no need to register if you just want to watch. There’s a live chat box down the side of the page which will allow you to discuss the presentations with each other, but to use that you WILL need to register. Registration is simple but in case you get stuck we’ve put together a guide on how to register.

An Action for M.E. communications officer will be on hand to moderate discussions and answer your questions where possible but please bear in mind that we do not have the capacity to answer individual questions about the research presentations or the work researchers are doing, nor will we be answering questions that are not related to the conference. We also cannot provide technical assistance if you encounter technical problems or are struggling to use the Ustream website.

Very good that the CMRC are livestreaming at least some of their conference - I wish that IiME were able to do this too. In fact, I wish that all ME/CFS conferences and major talks/seminars did this for all their presentations that weren't embargoed. We seem to have been a bit slow to catch onto this in the UK.

Last year's CMRC conference sounded great - @Jonathan Edwards said it was basically a neuroimmunology conference, with BPS stuff very much off the agenda.

The session with Dr Esther Crawley, Prof Fai Ng, Prof Carmine Pariante, Prof Anne McArdle, and Prof Julia Newton is a session on updates from MRC-funded projects - epidemiology (Crawley) and biomedical stuff (the others).

The next day, Prof. Jo Nijs is talking about the autonomic nervous system and Prof. Jim Horne is a neuroscientist who specialises in sleep, so presumably he'll be talking about that.
