I thought I'd start this new thread for when the voting starts (there's another thread, opened on Oct 6, at: http://forums.phoenixrising.me/show...ll-Non-profits-Coming-Soon-3MM-in-Prize-Money ).

Voting starts in a little less than 13 hours. Cort has done a piece at: http://forums.phoenixrising.me/cont...rts-with-Chase-Community-Giving-(Nov-8th-22nd). Make sure also to check out the comments there where some of the charities have answered a few questions:
- What is the focus/purpose of your nonprofit--research, advocacy, education, support? Please describe briefly.
- What projects/areas has your organization funded?
- About how many members does your group have? (if applicable)
- How would you plan to use prize money?

I think I'm going to wait a few days to vote to see which groups seem to be in the running, for my and my family's votes. It's not one of those contests with daily voting so no particular rush, I reckon.

-----
If somebody could post updates with voting totals/positions for some or all of the ME/CFS and similar groups, it'd be great both for this purpose (help decide who to vote for) and also for obsessives like me who like to see how everything is going.

I think we should have a list with 10 preferable organisations. There are at least 23 ME/cfs organisations maybe even more so our votes can split between too many organisations. regarding the experiences from the last year I would propose to have such a list.
I posted on the facebook page of that ME/CFS fundraising group if they are planning to do such a list

We are behind with the list because many org.s have been slow in responding or do not have their Profile Pages completed. We don't know how strict Chase may be about the PP. We don't know if they could disqualify for not having it completed. The org.s that have their PP in good shape are: WI, cfsknowledgecenter, Rocky Mountain, New Jersey. IACFS/ME is working on it. Mass. checked in and were very busy with a weekend conference. I believe they will do what they can to be in good order. Enterovirus is working to get set up, but the word didn't get relayed to the right person until yesterday. NCF may withdraw. Dr. Lerner's Foundation is closed and a special fund via Beaumont Foundation (not found at Chase) is handling monies, so it appears his org. is not eligible. I think it would be totally safe to vote for those whose PP's are in good shape. Others will be added. I think what I am seeing is that some org.'s really need tech help. Some are not FB members and didn't know how to get to their PP. The whole thing is a bit intimidating. More will be posted.

So what is the rule? We each get 10 votes and that's it? We don't start voting yet?

Chase is not allowing me to vote. They say I must "like" CCG. I have already done that. I tried "unliking" and starting over. That didn't help. Then I tried turning my exiting Firefox and starting it again. That didn't help.

Thanks!

Thanks to Cort and everyone working so hard to get the vote out for Chase Community Giving and the other projects...

Thank you to everyone taking the time to vote for Rocky Mountain CFS/ME & FM Association (RMCFA). I and everyone at RMCFA really appreciate!

Best,

Mike

I think Mozilla Firefox doesn't work very well for voting things (never works for me, anyway). I recommend using a different browser if you are having issues with Firefox.

Thanks, Willow J.

The leaderboard is up and 7 of our groups are in the top 100--ranging from 20th-49th place! That is excellent! Let's work to get them more votes! I think CT is just barely off the leaderboard.

Same 7 charities in prize-winning positions (top 100) in 2nd leaderboard of Chase Community Giving - they may be the groups to concentrate on if people want to vote now.

Our goal is to get everyone into the top 100!

And we are doing good! We have 7 organizations in the top 100. If the contest was to end now we would pump $140,000 into CFS non-profits!

  • CFSKnowledge Center - #28
  • AACFS (IACFS/ME) - #37
  • RMCFA - #39
  • Wisconsin - #43
  • New Jersey - #46
  • Mass CFIDS - #60
  • Enterovirus Foundation - #63

The voting gets more intense at the contest goes on.

Keep using the f and t and Like buttons on each orgs profile to spread the news.

Also leave comments on the each orgs page.

Good work everyone!

It'd be good if the positions/votes for a lot of the ME/CFS and related groups or the top ones anyway could be posted.

This contest looks like it will be a lot more competitive than round 1 of the last Chase contest i.e. the ones for groups with turnovers of over $1m. I remember that after a good period into it e.g. 7-10 (?) days, the numbers on the last page were still quite low i.e. I think less than 100. There was then a bit of a surge towards the end. But the figure required to win money in Round 1 was not that great.
