Just to add to Iansbergen and CBS's comments - Stoye and Coffin have coauthored since 1985 on papers associated with various aspects of Murine Virology specifically.

Please see link: (also posted on other thread re BWG):

Perhaps Coffin is something of a mentor for Stoye? Perhaps Coffin invited him. Perhaps Stoye asked if he could come along?

Also looks as if Stoye's team were responsible for the following APOBEC3 (host restriction factor aspect?) paper. Isn't it this 'host restriction factor' which so impressed Judy Mikovits (see link above) about Bishop's XMRV study earlier this year - even though their XMRV paper was 'negative'?

2007: Jern Patric; Stoye Jonathan P; Coffin John M
Role of APOBEC3 in genetic diversity among endogenous murine leukemia viruses.

back to the PA---more about Stoye, fascinating, love the PA!

"Later in the day, in two oral comments at the microphone, Dr. Stoye gave ample evidence that he is "more than a virologist”. He is politically adept, and has an innate inclination towards disruption - and he does not shy away from confrontation. Dr. Stoye is what is known as a hatchet man, and how he got to make a presentation at this committee is anyone’s guess"
