Hi, Mindy,
With regard to the withdrawal of the Alter paper, I know that the British government made the decision to ban blood donation from CFS patients on the 8th July 2010, after the paper had been withdrawn but well before it was published at the end of August. The information was revealed as part of the answer to a parliamentary question. http://www.meassociation.org.uk/?p=2511
