    Hello :)

Anyone else here having bad reactions to onions and garlic?

Whenever I eat that, no matter how it is prepared I get headache, pressure behind my eyes, brainfog and stomach pain. Even food containing onions and/or garlic gives me these reactions. Started post ME, to my knowledge anyway...

For some, sulfur/high thiol sensitivity is related to high levels of mercury. Mine continues, even after eliminating toxic metals. I have had to find strategies to deal w/ sulfur and ammonia. Sulfate, sulfites, ammonia...similar issues

You might find something in these threads that's helpful

    Hi @Bedshaped,

You may find this is a FODMAP issue brought about by disruption to your GI health. Onions and garlic are the worst for me, other FODMAPs can also be bad in larger quantities. Take a look here for more info and to try a low FODMAP diet, hopefully you'll see a decent improvement. http://fodmapfriendly.com/what-are-fodmaps/

I suggest you look in to mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS). I've read on their forums about people with similar reactions. http://mastcelldisorders.wallack.us/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1343865389

Personally I can't eat anything with onions or garlic in because I find the smell too painful but I don't think that's MCAS.

@ahmo thank you for your reply. I read the threads you link to, but I do not understand a single word of what they are discussing. Would you be so kind and explain (in layman's word) what this is? Thanks!

@ryan31337 thank you for your reply. I googled headache, stomach pain, pressure behind eyes, garlic and onions, and some believes garlic ans oinions dilates the blood vessels and increases blood pressure. Did you know this?
Do you know of a great place to get receips for low FODMAP diets. I don't want to buy a book just yet. Thanks!

@PhoenixDown thank you for your reply. I certainly do not hope I have MCAS, although I'm quite sensitive, and react to a lot of stuff. I find that there is garlic and/or onions in virtually anything I come across?
