Surprisingly I did not know about them being available in a dried edible form until my trip to Germany when I saw then in an organic food store (supposedly they are native to the US). I read up on Wikipedia after buying a full packet and like the taste although it is certainly more of an acquired taste. Anyhow, they are currently being research for general inflammation, gut, cardiovascular issues and considered a top nutrient for reducing oxidative stress as their oxidative stress reduction power is apparently one of the highest ever measured amongst plants.
