Anyone fired due to being sick?

I looked to see if this was posted before and didn't see it so sorry if it has.

I just wondered if anyone has actually been fired from their job due to sickness. I think it's discrimination unless your work is impaired but they could just say it was for another reason, like the recession.

It got me thinking since I've had a cold for 5 weeks and one of my co-workers in the next cubicle slaps her desk or sighs when I cough. Would they get sick of me? I don't ever call in sick unless I have really bad flu.

I'm sure if I'm 100% honest, my work is impaired due to ME/CFS--the poor economy actually helps me because things are slow--but not enough to notice, I try really hard to do a good job.
