Ambien. Is there a decent generic?

Ambien is one of the many things I alternate to initiate sleep. I'm finding all the generics total crap.

Qualitest shouldn't even be called a medication, Major, the peach round one, is slightly better but not much, and one which has a bright orange coating helped me sleep but the next day it was like I was on speed.

Has anyone found a decent generic and if so which one?

And please no lectures on Z drugs or benzos. I'm aware of all the potential problems. If I don't take some sort of benzo I absolutely positively will not sleep at all.

According to Wikipedia there are 13 generic versions of Ambien. Sandoz, Teva, Ratiopharm and Takeda GmbH are listed as some of the manufacturers.

I have no idea which of these would work best for you.

Ambien is just one of many things I take. I am looking for specific info on which generics work. Some are none to be total crap. I can say that Qualitest should not even be considered medication it's so worthless.

thanks @pogoman I'll take a look.

@pogoman Interesting article. I think it's individual because some people had really good luck with the qualitest which I think is crap.

I'm limited to where I can get mine since I need pharmacies that can deliver.

At least I'm not alone in this. ugh.

I saw a sleep specialist for 5 years. I tried a few generics. none worked. He had same issue w/ other patients and wrote scripts for brand, unless a person wanted a generic/was willing to keep trying brands to see if one worked ok.

Family member took and was out walking in snow in PJs middle of night- got the Ambien amnesia /sleep walking thing.
Scary. Please make sure someone checks in on you now and again until you know how you will respond.
There are people who have gotten in cars and driven , cause accident and were charged.
I would get up and eat at night and not remember or if someone called on phone after I took or early am I would not remember. I took for years, but stopped working ( took some breaks) finally stopped altogether.
