P.15-18: On #PACE Trial media coverage & events, Oct-Dec 2015. Mentions David Tuller, James C. Coyne, etc.

It doesn’t help that the consequences [of Graded Exercise Therapy, etc.] are largely hidden. If the advice were ‘put your hands in the fire, that’ll help’ - then burns would be visible for all to see. But people with M.E., including the many who have deteriorated with the very interventions being touted here, don’t have visible ‘burns’ to show.

Readiness to project a lazy and unquestioning blurt of unsupported and insupportable ‘information’ is manifestly present in publications where the general expectation would be for sober journalism. And the ramifications go well beyond the mass media and general public who consume it. The science and media circus affects how people with M.E. are viewed by movers and shakers, service providers in the NHS and other public services, and those responsible for educating our doctors. Science editors, senior BBC reporters, the Medical Royal Colleges, the Royal Society of Medicine: all have demonstrated a willingness to swallow patent nonsense hook, line, and sinker. Social services are not exempt.

Pages 12-14 has a section, "Benefits Advice: PIP". Some of it is UK-specific, some more general. It is designed for the more severely affected.
